I am glad that I have not been completely overtaken by shaving as a hobby. For me it is still a shave, and wet shaving is still a means to save money. I am loving how long a puck of soap lasts for slightly more than a can of cream, and how many months of shaves $20 will buy with a DE razor versus a fusion. I don't get all hyped up to buy stuff just to have more. That is unless I read 3 or 4 pages of this thread. You guys are the worst enablers I know of, but at least you're entertaining.
I was started out with the same intention. I found this site the same day I received my first DE stuff as a gift and it's been staright down hill since.
YES! It is way to easy to get stuck in the "Oh I'd like to try that," "Oh that looks nice," or "Oh that sounds like it would smell good." Then by the end of it you have 13 razors, 15 soaps, and 9 after shaves even though you can only use one per day. But you have to go buy more stuff. You just need to.
I wish it was only 15 soaps and 9 aftershaves.......multiplying both by 4 puts it closer to my reality.
I know I don't have a problem. I haven't bought anything in 23 days. I may or may not have bid on a few auctions, but I didn't win anything. I may or may not have a few purchases planned for next Saturday, but if I quit for a month that means I don't have a problem. Right?
I have noticed, that I have used creams for every shave this month except for one. My wife picked out Proraso Red for me to shave with one day, all other shaves have been with either C.O Bigelow or Palmolive cream.
Yep, that's our goal...entertainment! Seriously though, it's your shave, so you can get what you want/need out of it. We probably all have different reasons why we DE shaving. I did it because it intrigued me and I was tired of an electric (no cost savings there!). But, we're all here for our own reason and that's good, that's OK. Maybe it will become more than just a shave for you someday, maybe not.
