Those are good points. For me there is no way I can make a smooth stroke from my lower neck and into the chin & up to the lower lip. It will get snagged on the chin resulting in a cut. I can however get a bbs chin by tiny little strokes in a scrubbing motion ever so lightly ( on the chin area) I do downwards, upwards and across in very light short strokes. It took me a long time to be able to accomplish that
First time out with a low cost eBay score, a J. Engstrom frame back. Not the most comfortable thing in the world to hold, the tang is like a doggone popsicle stick, wants to roll to its faces in your fingers. But it did take one heck of an edge. It'll go in The Pile (as opposed to The Rotation). I have a Heljestrand of a nearly identical type, and dislike it as well. If this one hadn't been such a bargain, I'd never have bid on it. Also first go with the Proraso white in a tube. I guess I prefer the tub. Very slick, but little cushion. Was really looking forward to this stuff as I LOVE the tub version. Was shaping up to be a pretty "meh" shave, when I used the Alt Innsbruck AS: Holy cow! I have a new favorite summer AS! If you haven't tried it and don't mind a little menthol in your AS, give it a spin-it's a big winner.
That fact has been noted in many discussions of this subject, if it is "New Coke" they've done it before. However many of the big retailers we order from online say their distributors are saying it's for real this time...
There was a sportswriter for the Atlanta Journal back in the 70's who said on a slow news day they would call the Atlanta Braves front office and ask if they were thinking about trading Hank Aaron. They would reply "are you crazy?" And the sports page would have big headlines BRAVES DENY AARON TRADE RUMOR.
starting a rumor that Floid Blue will be discontinued will sure get rid of some inventory lol. If it were true I would order 3-4
7/25/15 - H. Boker King Cutter A lot better shave today. I held the blade with both hands for the ATG pass and worked on stretching the skin better on WTG and XTG passes. A really smooth DFS!!
A Fili 14 EPBD square point is on my short list...that's a beauty. I had a gorgeous Koraat at one time, one of his early razors, foolishly traded. He still has a pic of it on his website:
Brought this beauty back to life recently. Pitting stopped at the spine thankfully. Honed up quickly and shaves like a dream.
7/26/15 - 11th Straight Shave!! H. Boker King Cutter I tried Cubancigar2000 method of short strokes. It didn't pretty good. But it seems like I did better if I really stretched my skin in that area. I might try a little bit of both methods.
Clauss 5/8 full hollow round end. just like the marine issue, guess this one is a civilian model. pretty much perfect on left side, right side needed help. not to be passable, but to be a great shave.

Hess 99 in mint shape - don't think I nailed this one when I honed it so I finished with the Clauss with covered tang honed by gssixgun. Ended up being a BBS shave. The Clauss photo is before gssixgun cleaned & honed it. It looks much better now Razorock XXX & Proraso blue Clubman original View attachment 72900
