today's shave was nice, but regrettable. rainy Saturday, wanted a perfect slow relaxed late morning shave. two strokes into the first pass I realized that either my Ladas blade was used up or it doesn't like the slant. either way, I replaced it for a new lab.( always paired nicely with the hammer,ymmv). three new passes left my smooth as silk. grandson was watching, during one of his (fidgets) I knicked my lower lip, no blood, but I knew it was there. finished with sc renewal balm. then I paired it with tiamo for men parfum. the cologne ignited the knick. as I went to examine the source of my pain. I knocked the bottle off onto the tile. it matched the renewal nicely, but it's history.

at least the house smells nice.

 

David, I'm sorry for today's shaving troubles. I'm sure tomorrow's shave will return to normal. It was nice that you had your grandson with you. I'm sure he'll always remember shaving with grand dad...and grand dad's funky smelling house. Enjoy your weekend.

ty, and I'm sorry if I grumble about him sometimes.
he's 5, my wife and myself have had him since he was 2. I'm sure his lot is confusing.
but, raising kids was much easier at twenty than it is at fifty. thanks for letting me vent. I'm sure he appreciates it, even if he doesn't know.

 

David, your doing a good job. In my book if you don't grumble sometimes about things it means you simply are not caring and in my book that is a million times worse. You care for your grandson and one day you and your wife may be the ones he remembers as caring about him.

Haven't used the Blue Bird blade since I started DE shaving. They're OK at best. Still got a good shave with it. I'll see how they do next time in the New SC.

The Clubman Pinaud finish left me in heaven. I'll have to get a bottle of it.

 

Venting around friends is perfectly fine. I help out in a first-grade Sunday School class, and I'm tired after just a couple hours. I can't begin to fathom how much energy it requires to do what you do. My dad was almost 46 when I was born, so I have extra appreciation for "more experienced" dads and grand dads that love and watch over their kids. Prayers for strength, wisdom, and patience...which is something we all need.

Your house still smells funny, though.

 

David, you are doing a great job taking care of him. I am confident that he will remember and appreciate the love and care that both you and your wife have given him.

 

It just doesn't get much better than this 6/8 Frederick Reynolds near wedge that I restored and had reground by Zowada. What a shave!

Here's my solution to beat the heat - just increase the amount of menthol you use. The Frozen Tundra is Rod's second-coldest soap after the Glacials. It smells, lathers, and freezes so great with skincare which makes a shave feel going to a spa. (Every Stirling soap I've used feels like that!) The Rubby Dubby Doo makes the hottest weather feel chilly and comfortable.
