That's what I was afraid of. Oh well it will make the finished result looking even better. :D

Life just doesn't get any better than that.... A trip home with loved ones, a 48-50 Milord, and a 12 year old bottle of Dewars. VERY nice.

At least, as far as I can tell, there are no deep scratches or dents :)

That's the most important thing. It always amazes me, how something that looks so beat up can be brought back to better than new.

I will be sure to take a photo of it in such a way that a before and after photo composite would look good :)

I just got home from work and opened up the package the mailman left for me. I'm now a proud owner of a long handle black beauty! Once I get a chance, I'll clean it up and post some pictures. I can't wait to try it out.

    And with its original handle.....;)

My American Comfort Lather Catcher arrived today....I got this from a UK Flea-Bay Seller for £16.00....I was really in for a surprize with this one as when I opened the package I couldn't believe the condition of this thing.....The Comfort Lather Catcher is in Absolute Mint Condition....I am not sure of exact date of manufacture of this razor as there is little information on them but its well over 100 years old that's for sure.... The Lather Catcher has The "Most Perfect Safety Razor " & "Shaves with Ease & Comfort" written on the back.....Its commonly referred to as the Comfort lather Catcher....I have been informed by an Elderly Gent from over the Pond that these are indeed very comfortable shavers when utilizing an original wedge blade.....The Comfort Lather Catcher will however take a Modern GEM Blade with some shimming modifications....No problem there...

So I need some help. Picked these up today as a $30 gamble. I know NOTHING about straights so any info will help. The black one is a Sheffield "the prize". The tan/wood color one just has a 1865 and weird logo that might be Rk initials with a crown above. The last one says AEVOS "high class". The last 2 both say made in Germany. Did I do good? I figure I have gamble a lot more on a lot less odds and at the very least they seem to be functional.

    From a reviewer on Basenotes:

I don't know about all the notes and vintage references and such but if this is what fox hunting smells like, I want to take up fox hunting.
