Mike, will you be using your custom garden tool/straight razor backyard hone? Sharp shovels and keen blades! :happy088:

    Goldedge pt 2

    Pre shave oil
    Hot towel
AOS sandlewood cream spiked with TSD M-bomb.
    WD HMB brush 24mm
    Dubl duck Goldedge SR
    Single pass wtg
    Cold water rinse pat dry
    Clubman original and
    AOS sandlewood aftershave balm.

After yesterday's fail with this SR, I tried to re-hone it. Tape on spine. Took it to the fine side of a Norton jb6. (1k I think), 20 laps. Then pulled out the imperia LA roccia 12-15k, slurry stone and brought to about 8k..20 laps...washed stone...20 laps med pressure. Washed stone...20 laps light pressure. 40 laps on linen 25 laps on leather strop. Overkill? Maybe. It could be a little sharper, but it definitely does the job.

The thought of Mike's secret weapon touching the duck I quit NBJ for must have scared me. My honing skills improved 200% after seeing the pic. Lol
Actually, that pic is what gave me the idea of taking it to my Norton jb6 fine to start with a new bevel edge.

Thanks. Scared or scarred, can't tell but it did give me the idea of using a stone I'd never have taken a hollow ground to.

By the looks of that beard, I can see why you needed to create a secret weapon.
