SOTD 8-3-15 Comments: Today I started out with full intentions of using the Torrey for the shave but after about a 1/2 of pass and it just didn't feel like it was cutting very well so I switched to the Gold Dollar to complete the shave. As always I felt that a couple of areas could have been closer but that is okay as I am sure I will improve on those areas with time. No issues with the Soap Commander soap although I don't think it is one of the slickest one I have used but I didn't have any problems with I used it for DE shaving. I did think I got the lather as good as I could have so I guess I will have to say that this soap might just not make my top five for straights shaving. Other than the switching of the straights out and my soap feeling just so-so I did get a very good shave today and I will call it an almost DFS shave! No irritation but I did get one little weeper on the chin area! Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV! Thx.
Shave plans for Tuesday morning: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Personna day 2 Stirling Glacial Lavender SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Alcolado Glacial Menthol Splash Brut Cologne After the wonderful, frigid shave I had on Menthol Monday I decided to duplicate the experience with a Glacial soap which has a different scent. The Lavender smells so nice, has the exact same bitterly-cold menthol punch which I love so much, and the lather is numero uno along with brilliant skincare. The Personna blade is so good - smooth, sharp, and VERY forgiving. The Penguin is so versatile because it's an aftershave, cologne, and even great for reducing fever.

Went through my shelves and 'discovered' this guy that I don't think I've ever used. Had a great, mild shave with it. Efficient and very comfortable. Maybe a tad too mild for me. Now, I am far from an expert in Gillettes but based on the box and general look I am pretty sure it's an Aristocrat? It is however in very, very nice condition with no plate loss anywhere and very shiny all over.
August Focus - Slim and Feather AC August 3 Razor - Gillette Slim (J1) Blade - (2) Brush - Omega Pro 48 Soap - Arko Post - Cold Water, Alum, Clubman It's Monday so a Slim shave is on order. Saturday's went extremely well on 3 then 4 for the second pass. Very nice feel and finish. This morning I'm going to 5 and staying there for the entire shave. The Pro 48 and Arko combination was incredible as always with enough lather to do a dozen passes and still wash my car. First pass was WTG and it felt about the same as the razor on 3 Saturday. Smooth as silk, just a bit more feedback and a great result. Second pass I stayed on 5 and went XTG and got a great result. The third pass was mostly for the neck and involved the Gillette Slide as well. Great feel and finish. DFS all the way and off to a new week! It's still early in the month but I'm not feeling the Slim quite like I do a couple of my other DE's, but it's still a fine fine razor. We'll see what I think in a couple of weeks.
Ah thanks. Yeah the shave was very comfortable. Very much on the mild side of things but it did a great job cleaning me up in just two passes.
I know what you mean. My adjustable feels so different to shave with than other razors. Might have to figure out a new technique or change how I hold the razor in my hand.
