Monday night shave. After Sunday’s shave being just a little tuggy, I took this razor back to the translucent Arkansas stone, and did a little more work. I think I got it this time! Razor was very smooth, and I got the lather perfect after adding a bit more water a couple of times. Did a N/S pass that felt like I was just wiping the lather off, and had to check the sink to see if I got whiskers. I did. For my second pass, I did XTG on my chin, jawline, and neck, with lots of skin stretching using Alum on my fingertips. Third pass was S/N, which is mostly ATG. Used a bit of pressure, but wasn’t feeling irritation. At this point I could have stopped. I had a few rough patches in my normal spots, but overall it was a good shave. I decided to chase the baby a bit, something I have never done with a straight. Lathered up, carefully stretched my skin, and laid the blade almost flat on my skin. Did short strokes with no pressure. I caught the baby! It is now 10 hours post shave, and I still have a BBS on my face, chin and jaw, and just a little bit of prickliness on my trouble spots. Alum gave a little feedback on the chin I shaved five times, but not bad. Aftershave splash felt great.
