Brought out a Super Speed, which I don't normally use. I much prefer an open comb, but it gave a great shave! [IMG]

A pretty great shave today. I accidentally made it a London theme but I'm alright with that.

    Select Wednesday
I waited for the mail to shave today, such was my excitement to try Cold River Soap Works Select Jardin d'Orange, soap and balm. I have to say the presentation is classy.
I really cannot review it so soon, but my first impressions are all very positive. The scent starts out orange, but not like candy, more like the plant, then becomes woody and warm. I really like it.
The performance of the soap is also impressive - easy loading and building on my face to a nice yogurty texture. Three smooth passes with my New LC left me with a drama free BBS.
The balm carries the scent on and absorbs quickly making my skin feel great.

    Prep: warm shower
    Soap: CRSW Jardin d'Orange
    Brush: HIS Lather Monster
    Razor: Gillette New LC
    Blade: Voskhod (2)
    AS: CRSW Jardin d'Orange balm

It shaves like a Superspeed Herm, they were made with different color handles. Heavy towards the head with the plastic handle.
The Gold DeLuxe ones are more scarce. I have several of them in different colors in my collection.
You always need another razor :angelic007:

    SOAP: GINGERS GARDEN HAIGHT ASHBURY

Sorry about the pic today. took the pic first but something was burning my face real bad so I changed the brush and soap figuring I would put a stop to that. put the soap back on my face after the shave to make sure that's what the problem was and it was the Soap Smooth Bruyere:angry021::angry021: . this is sad because the scent is amazing pipe tobacco and it made a nice lather. I don't usually have a problem with fragrance in soaps (only 1 other time) so I figured I would use the Gingers Garden because I know it would be fine for the rest of the shave. The Givenchy Gentleman paired well with the patchouli scent of the soap. the rest of the shave ended in BBS but my face looks like I have red clown paint on lol.

I think I do like it. It performs great, but the scent was kind of off-putting at first. It kind of just smelled like dirt but the more I sniffed it, the more complex the scent became. It's also much nicer on the face than in the jar.

Three pass BBS. Even going sloooow and on a lower setting, the Pal likes to nip. Nothing major (this time) and alum block took care of that. Fun razor to shave with once you get to know it.

Picked up The Real Shaving Company cream today on sale at Shoppers Drug Mart. Thought I'd try it today and I am very impressed. Very easy to work into a great lather and gave me a very close BBS shave. The Executive FB is a very good razor. It also works well with the Gillette Platinum blade to assist in providing a close smooth, and comfortable shave. Pinaud Lime is one of my favourites.

a lot of soaps seem to be that way. once they are lathered the oils get mixed well and the true scent comes out.

Comments: Not much to say about today's shave except I think I need to spend some time stropping the Gold Dollar as it is starting to tug just a bit. No issues with the Arko as it always gives me great, slick lather. Even thought the GD did tug just a bit I was able to finish the shave. I did get a very good shave today and not quite my usual DFS shave! No irritation but I did get one small weeper!

Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV!

    Thx.

SWMBO and I are here in Rome, GA, today. This morning's shave is listed below. We may just head home today. We are having fun, however.

    Dove Men Face Wash
    Arko Stick
    Jayaruh #2 Synthetic
    Gem Jr Parade
    Treet Super SE
    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Lemon WH
    Pinaud Clubman

The Arko Stick face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #2 Synthetic brush. Two passes with my Gem Jr Parade razor and a Treet Super SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
