August Focus - Slim and Feather AC August 6 Razor - None Blade - None Brush - None Soap - None Post - None Woke up this morning at the usual time, got up, got my cup of coffee, sat down on the couch, reclined it back, and decided it was too early to care today. Set my alarm for another hour, got up and took a quick shower and out the door to work. The world just had to deal with me without a shave today. Sleep sounded better. In my defense I didn't sleep well last night. Apparently I was snoring so I kept being jolted awake and told of that fact. I didn't hear anything, but SWMBO swears she did. On a positive note this will put the Slim and Voskhod at 9 and against a two day growth in the morning. The weekend's on the way!

I slept in and didn't shave today but tomorrow I am planning to use my early tech with a Voskhod blade, my peerless nylon brush and williams with a nivia balm afterwards. Hot towel and a wash with what the girlfriend has at the sink that looks like facial soap for preshave. We have our local crafts fair tomorrow and I was lucky enough to have the day off so I'll be up and going to that rain or shine with the kids.
I requested a custom blend with certain EO's and not a clue why Amanda came up with this name. Spicy mango, cilantro, black pepper, peppermint essential oil and menthol.
Thursday Night Shave Gillette Red Tip Asco Red Vie-Long White Horse Hair Proraso Red Arko Football Amazing 2 pass shave, smooth and nick free as always
Actually it thinned out the crowd. We rolled in on a Tuesday nite after a huge rain storm. We rode a lot of rides with 10 min wait times. Nice! We spent 2 1/2 days their then headed to Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor for a Family Reunion. It was a little damp there but not as bad as Tampa. Then drove back to Destin to party for my sister in laws birthday. I love Florida, but all my doctors are in Houston, or we would move there in a blink.
Oh man, what a freeze I just had from the Glacial Wintergreen trio - it'll take all day to thaw my face out. Smoother than silk as well!
The scent of the wintergreen is awesome. I would definitely get a full puck if it was mentholated "normally" hahaha

Frey's Day: Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (5) Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (11, 12, 13) Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's witch hazel, Pinaud Clubman Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron I was finally able to shave again this AM, as the scab from my cat's moment of overstimulation was gone. I hadn't used this particular soap in quite a little bit, but it was as easy to lather as I remembered, with the mango butter really seeming to make a difference in softening my beard. Between the length of my stubble and the age of the blade, there was a bit of tugging and razor burn involved, but no nicks or weepers at all, and DFS+ results. I feel like myself again with a reasonably smooth face.
FRIDAY Early morning shave today, requiring a couple of good hot cups of coffee before proceeding. Second consecutive day using the Western-style Japanese razor (aka J-West). In place of the MdC soap, I grabbed a TSD stick, 'Iced Asian Plum'—an appropriate name —which also happens to have a real nice menthol chill. As I mentioned after yesterday's shave, this is a well-designed and well-constructed razor. Good balance is one important aspect, I've discovered, in the effective use of a straight razor. Not all razors are as well-balanced as this model. Often straight razors are made quite blade-heavy—especially some of the large-bladed wedge grinds. They still shave great, but require additional effort and attention. A well-balanced razor feels easier to use and more efficient in its use. Three basic passes (WTG, XTH, ATG) with minor touch-up. A repeat of yesterday's near-BBS results. Slight irritation on the neck on one side as I am probably 'chasing the baby' too much on that side. I'll need to back off a bit. Bay Rum finish & I'm good to go! Have a happy Friday, all!
