    Frey's Day:

Prep: Hot shower, Neutrogena Invigorating Face Wash, TSD Jasmine Sambac preshave balm
    Brush: Simpsons 56 Best Badger
    Soap: Ginger's Garden Coffee Jasmine
    Razor: RazoRock Bamboozled RAKE OC
    Blade: Bic Chrome Platinum (5)
    Passes: WTG, XTG, XTG (11, 12, 13)
Post: Cold water rinse, Bloc Osma alum, Dickinson's witch hazel, Pinaud Clubman
Cologne: Le 3e Homme de Caron

I was finally able to shave again this AM, as the scab from my cat's moment of overstimulation was gone. I hadn't used this particular soap in quite a little bit, but it was as easy to lather as I remembered, with the mango butter really seeming to make a difference in softening my beard. Between the length of my stubble and the age of the blade, there was a bit of tugging and razor burn involved, but no nicks or weepers at all, and DFS+ results. I feel like myself again with a reasonably smooth face.

    FRIDAY
Early morning shave today, requiring a couple of good hot cups of coffee before proceeding. Second consecutive day using the Western-style Japanese razor (aka J-West).
In place of the MdC soap, I grabbed a TSD stick, 'Iced Asian Plum'—an appropriate name —which also happens to have a real nice menthol chill.

As I mentioned after yesterday's shave, this is a well-designed and well-constructed razor. Good balance is one important aspect, I've discovered, in the effective use of a straight razor. Not all razors are as well-balanced as this model. Often straight razors are made quite blade-heavy—especially some of the large-bladed wedge grinds. They still shave great, but require additional effort and attention. A well-balanced razor feels easier to use and more efficient in its use.

Three basic passes (WTG, XTH, ATG) with minor touch-up. A repeat of yesterday's near-BBS results. Slight irritation on the neck on one side as I am probably 'chasing the baby' too much on that side. I'll need to back off a bit.
Bay Rum finish & I'm good to go!
    Have a happy Friday, all!

    today's shave
hot water wash with nivea men's and a washcloth
    brothers bristles/ ace black badger
BOMBED Pyrate' cove bay rum and ginger
unknown open comb/ Maggard mr5 handle
    Ladas(3)
    ICED virgin island bay rum
today's shave was nice. had sort of a heavy metal thing happening. the brothers bristles handle is the boss, large and in charge. I installed my new to me Maggard handle on an unknown open comb(see pic). it's an old type open comb, but the comb is coated black. when first used it felt a bit light. the handle made a mediocre razor into a very nice shave. some thought went into the placement of those finger flumes. it felt very natural. my only complaint is that I've no way of telling y'all who made it(the head). three passes left me smooth and comfy. finished with iced bay rum.
hope y'all did as well, or better.

Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Shield Face Wash
    Razor: Gillette British Rocket
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue
    Brush: Stirling Synthetic
Lather: Tiki Soap Bar 1920's Barber Shoppe
Post: Alum. Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond
    Ultimate.
    Aftershave: Fine American Blend
First shave with my new Gillette British Rocket, this razor is flawless, the silo doors open/close wonderful. Like it was new. The razor is perfectly balanced and very easy to find the correct cutting angle. A couple years ago I gave/trade most of my Gillette super speeds I just couldn't get a good close shave. Fast forward now my technique has improved and I now get fantastic shaves with Gillette TTO! I still have one more 40's Super Speed in my den. Tiki's 1920 Barber Shoppe is the BEST barbershop scented soap I've tired.
    Let love conquer all.

    Fatboy Friday
Three straight great shaves with CRSW. I really like everything about this soap and balm. Today I used ML lime pre shave and Fine Platinum to see how well they played together with this combo, and it works. I'm not sure if the pre helped a ton, but it did not hurt any. The Colonel whipped up optimal lather quickly and the Fatboy did its job on 9-7-7. The Fine splash added a welcome cool, but not much burn, owing to the quality of the shave. The balm went on easily and left my skin smooth and smelling great.
    Prep: Mickey Lee Lime
    Soap: CRSW Jardin d'Orange
    Brush: The Colonel
    Razor: 1959 Gillette Fatboy
    Blade: Voskhod (1)
