August 8 Shave 6

I had a gift certificate for a department store so during Friday lunch I stopped bye to see if there was anything to buy. I have been interested in the Santa Maria Novella shaving cream but between the price and shipping it was just to much to take a flier. In the past the SMN stores here did not carry the cream, but yesterday there it was! Just $58, I guess it was priced on the exchange rate a couple months ago. So no shipping and my $10 coupon I went for it. So it is featured in today's shave.

I did a test lather of the SMN last nigh and today was the first true use. It took me a while to get it to the yogurty consistency I like for a SR shave. The menthol took time to build and it was reasonable cold by the end. It was slick, protective and decent aftershave feel, it is just the first use to so to early to make a call.

I did three passes and everything went well except for 2 operator errors. A small cut on my ear (no idea how that happened) and one false start with 2 steep an angle. I am focusing on reducing the irritation and using less pressure. No DE 4 pass today just a minor clean up on my chin with the SR. Final results light irritation and DFS. Only the second time a true DFS with a SR only shave.

Day 6 - 7 August 2015

30 Day Rule - Phoenix OC



Day six and I will call this blade done. I was able to get a good shave, but had to work harder for it than in previous days. The La Toja is performing flawlessly. The alum was super quiet and I had near BBS after two passes and some touch up. Finished off with some Clubman for that barber shop feeling. Visiting with family on a warm evening out on the prairie. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

Second shave with the Slim set on 3. I was in a lime mood, so I started with the usual Proraso preshave followed by Colnel Conks lime soap. Traditional 3 pass shave and touchups, followed by Proraso preshave then Gables Lime.


Another bus with little irritation.

I just got in some TSD soap, vanilla, and some more bomb among other things, so I am excited about Sunday's shave. Seeing the soap is still glycerin, I said nothing about menthol, and my focus is on the Slim and what settings work best for me, I don't think I am falling out of line with the focus...

Fourth day on the Voskhod and time to crank up the Slim. All the way to 9 and away we go. The BoS and Fat got a great lather going. I'm still trying to decide whether I like MWF or Tabac the best. So far a very close race. I'll be putting a horse to the Fat in the next day or two as well.

First pass on 9 was really nice. Got some good feedback going and it did a great job. Picked up a minor nick right on my cheekbone where the more aggressive razors tend to get me. Nothing major at all. Lathered up again and went XTG over my face and neck and finished DFS. Found a few spots that were a bit worse than the rest on my neck so touched up there with a small third pass and found the baby. Nice to have it visit again. I can honestly say that the Slim at 9 is a great shave with the Voskhod. Close, smooth, feedback to boot. Hard to beat that shave. I'm going to throw in a Feather tomorrow and set the Slim all the way down to 1. Let's see what the mildest setting with a super sharp blade can do. Here's to the start of a great weekend!

Another great shave. 3 days growth gone in 2.5 passes, one tiny weeper which stopped bleeding almost as quick as it started.
Neck area wasn't as smooth as I would have liked it to be, hence the .5 pass. I might need to change the angles for the next shave.

Still taking a few mins to tidy up around the goatee.

After 3 consecutive shaves with the same razor, I thought I would be bored by now, but no, I'm looking forward to the next shave.
