I went with the old type but after the first stroke I had to get rid of the Tiger blade. It pulled so much I felt like I waxed the first strip instead of shaved it. I switched out to a Gillette Silver Blue and it was almost the most comfortable shave I've had so far. I say almost because I cut off a razor bump on my neck that I didn't notice until it was bleeding. I didn't feel it until later and there was no other irritation. It wasn't BBS but it was close with 3 passes.
Wednesday 12. aug 2015. I picked out a brush I seldom use. The Mühle silvertip brush. This is a very soft brush that is good at whipping up a generous amount of lather. But it is too soft on the face, have no backbone and I usually prefer a brush that offers up some resistance when applying the lather to my face. But since I have it in my possession, I have an obligation to use it at least once a year. This was the fifth shave with the Iridium Super blade, and it was still as good as new. A very good shaver, I give it top marks for sharpness, smoothness and now also longevity. I have only 32 blades remaining in my stash, so I have to find a new source for these excellent blades. Last, but not least I managed to relocate the world best cream, the Maca Root from The Body Shop. It was reported missing and a search party was sent out to find it. It was successful and despite its recent ordeal, managed to give me an outstanding shave. Williams Ice Blue was my favourite aftershave in my early teens. I liked the scent so much I purchased a whole liter of the stuff, and that was before I had started shaving properly Now, not so much. I am a few months shy of turning 40, and I am probably trying to reconnect to my lost youth by using Aqua Velva Ice blue again. I have been told that it is the same stuff, although I am not sure that my olfactory memory (is that a thing) agrees with that. Razor: EJ de89 Blade: Super Iridium (5) Brush: Mühle Silvertip Cream: The outstanding Maca Root cream Aftershave: Aqua Velva Ice Blue
Not even a professional barber could have shaved me closer than this. I ended up absolutely BBS and no stubble to be felt. The Frozen Tundra is one hell of a frigid soap, as well as a great latherer. The Rubby Dubby Doo was a perfect finish!

SOTD August 12, 2015 Prep: Hot facecloth followed by homemade frankincense pre-shave oil Soap: Haslinger Schafmilch Razor: Gillette Canadian Heavy Tech Blade: Astra SP Brush: Semogue boar Aftershave: Hot facecloth followed by Witch Hazel Aftershave balm: Shea butter/coconut oil Mustache Wax: Badger First day shaving with the Haslinger Schafmilch Shaving Soap. While it is not scent free I seem to tolerate the scent fairly well. Mild. The soap itself reminded me of MWF...easy to lather and good lubrication. A great way to start a Wednesday. Nice clean shave. 10/10.
The Personna lab blue cost 135SEK and the GSB cost 190SEK. But it seems like the GSB is e bit better. I haven't thought about that the blades might not work well with my other razors. I know the Personna works well in my slim. Hmm, what to do, what to do =P
