That brush is a beauty! I just ordered a Silvertip knot in 24mm from Larry at Whipped Dog, for mine. It's all cleaned up and ready.
Larry has excellent knots. I just cleaned out the 2nd head assembly (suave 24mm Plisson type) and will drop in either a 26mm Super Silvertip or 25mm HMB in it. Both fit without modification and will try both to see which one I like better before final gluing.

Loving the brush and razor I got from Stirling as well as the soap and everything else. First time using a Voskhod blade and I think I have found my new go to blade (Sorry Feathers ). Hope everyone had a great day and great shave.
August Focus - Slim and Feather AC August 12 Razor - 1964 Gillette Slim (J1) Blade - (1) Brush - BoS Soap - Saint Charles Shave Sandalwood Post - Cold Rinse, Alum, Aqua Velva Musk Yes, I'm still here. It's now 12:19 a.m. in St. Louis and I've been home for about a half hour. Dinner is reheating in the microwave after a rather long day making people's dreams come true. So, finally, here's my report from this morning's shave. Switched to the Ladas for a few days. One of my favorite Russians, certainly my favorite Russian stainless blade. Want to see what it will do in the Slim with different settings. I grabbed the Omega 10066 and decided to try the Saint Charles Shave Sandalwood again. This soap is made about 15 minutes away from me and I really really want to love it and be able to buy a lot of it. The Sandalwood scent is great and I've heard great things about their other scents as well. I have a sample of the Bay Rum that I will try as well. The problem? Inconsistent and dissipating lathers. So, away we go. The Slim is on 5 today. Left the brush wet and went after the St. Charles. It seemed to load well and even began to produce a lather in its wooden bowl. Got a good brushload and went for the face lather. Actually not too bad. Great scent and I got a good coating that seemed to last well through the first pass. The actual shave was smooth with some feedback. Nice feel to it and good result on the first pass. The Ladas is a bit noisier than the Voskhod, probably due to the lack of Teflon. Lathered for the second pass and yep, there it is...the lather wants to dissipate. Kind of like Williams only not quite that bad. Worked the face lather a bit extra and it seemed to improve slightly. Did an XTG and got another good pass out of the blade and razor. Third pass for the neck and I had trouble getting the lather. Squeezed the brush and didn't get much out of it so I reloaded a bit and got a good enough lather to work. Finished DFS but puzzled by the soap. As far as the razor and blade go, I think 5 on the Slim with Ladas isn't bad but I expect 7 to be better. That's where we'll go tomorrow, well actually in about six hours. I'm going to stay with the Saint Charles and try different brushes, water etc. until I either figure it out or have to give up on it. I'm hoping I'm smart enough to make it work. Hope everyone had a great day! I'm way behind on here but I'll catch up.
Gillette Steriling Gillette Silver Blue blade Peerless Nylon brush Proraso red in a tub (face lathered) Preshave hot towel soak (3min) Nivia Sensitive Post Shave Balm Jumbo Styptic (for the blood) I gave in and tried El Cheapo the hardly there. First off this thing doesn't weigh enough to kill a fly. Its thin press stamped steel top plate and guide plate fit together very well and leave the blade even. Thee was only one spot that wasn't smooth and 3 min with my girlfriends nail file fixed that right up. I took it out of the package gave it an alcohol dip just in case and assembled it with the enclosed Gillette Silver Blue. This thing is aggressive. Closest thing I have to compare it with is the fatboy on 9 and the fatboy is milder still. Nevertheless I lathered up and took the first pass WTG. It stung alittle. I figured I was giving it to much pressure and I relathered. 2nd pass XTG, still stung but no blood yet. After I got done with that one I got scared and rinsed off. I decided that 2 passes was enough for today so I cleaned out my brush and rinsed out the razor then reached for the aftershave. I looked up and saw the blood. Around the goatee area was weeping blood over a little bit of skin so I put down the Nivia and reached for the Styptic pencil to stop it up. A few min later after the quiet cursing and the sting of Styptic I rinsed again and finally applied the Nivia. I never intended this razor to be in my normal rotation but I should probably give it a place so I can lean to use it before I travel. Now about a half hour later my cheeks, chin, and above the lip have a DFS. Below the jaw it is only barely acceptable and may get shaved again with a mild razor tomorrow early in the afternoon before I go to work. Shaving with this at home may see the oldtype handle being stuck on so it has alittle weight to it.
Wednesday's Shave Hot Whisker Rinse Williams Mug Soap-today used as a shave stick Omega 10029 Baby Pro-boar 1935 Schick E2/Long's Drugs-Personna d1 Aqua Velva Ice Blue Pinaud Clubman Classic Vanilla Today was my first day with this razor..I swapped Jayaruh for it...I'm knocked out, I've always said that the good Col Schick invented a better mousetrap...and today's shave only helps to prove this statement... Basically a one pass BBS, but I did do a little unneeded touch-up...I think I'm going to give this one to the 30 day rule...and post here alot so I can keep track of how this Schick and I bond...I feel I may be on the threshold of a great romance....
Great shaving results again - the Proraso Green soap lathered the way I like, and gave me plenty of cooling. The matching aftershave felt heavenly.
