8/14/2015 Prep: Hot shower with Neutrogena Face Wash with menthol, home made PSO Razor: Muhle R41 (2010), Dubl Duck Goldedge straight razor Blade: Astra SP (6) Brush: Turkish #6 Soap: HTGAM - Gondolier After: Home made ASB, Aqua Velva Musk after shave Cologne: Midnight In Paris It is Friday and a beautiful day it is supposed to be. The #6 brush whipped the Gondolier into a nice lather. The 2010 version of the R41 is a smooth shaver and the Duck did a good job as usual. The AV and the Midnight In Paris were a nice finish to this 2 pass Darn Fine Shave. Have a blessed day!
Stirling is all I have left in my den. Gave all my other shaving stuff to my friend who decided to pick up wetshaving
SOTD 8-14-15 Comments: The Wolfman takes off a two day growth like nothing. It is so smooth and efficient that it only takes two passes plus a very little clean up. The Soap Commander soap was very good. It lathered easy and gave me a great slick protective shave and post feel is very good! I had a very good shave today with my usual DFS shave! No irritation or weepers! Please feel free to leave comments on any items used as I enjoy reading them to see what others say about the gear I am using/trying out! Of course, YMMV! Thx.
Shave of the day, Überlather edition Pre- Hot shower, Anna and Claras bath soap Sandalwood Soap/cream- Palmolive shave stick and Palmolive original shaving cream + Glycerine Brush- Semogue 1470 boar Razor- WEBER polished head stainless steel Blade- Gillette silver blue (2) Post- Cold water rinse, Aqua Velva Ice Blue aftershave lotion and Nivea sensitive cooling aftershave balm This is the first time I have ever shaved with Überlather. I have made some before to try it out but never shaved with it. But DAMN, why have I never done this before? Its right up there with all my top soaps! The palmolive soap and cream are good performers and smells NICE, but together they were elevated. I started out with Rapira swedish steel blade, well.. its another blade I can cross off the list. I had to switch the blade after the first pass, I was just not getting the performance I know I can get with for example GSB. AV and Nivea is a great post shave!
It was such a great shave! Next i'll make über lather with Klar kabinett and Cyril r salter =D im gonna keep trying blades, but if I dont find other similarly performing blades I'm definitely buying 100 pack of GSBs
Brought "The Hammer" out for today's shave. Gear Razor: Pils 101NE Blade: Voskhod Brush: SOC Boar Soap: Provence Sante A/S: Myrsol Emulsion
Saturday's Dove Men Face Wash Williams Mug Shaving Soap Jayaruh #4 High Mtn. Gem Featherweight Treet Super SE CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Lemon WH Pinaud Clubman The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #4 High Mountain Badger brush. Two passes with my Gem Jr Parade razor and a Treet Super SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave, however, this blade will not see another shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
Razor: Gillette Slim Adjustable (1965)(8) Blade: Gillette Platinum (5) Brush: WDC-4, Silvertip Badger, Butterscotch. (VIG) 24/67 Cream: Lea Classic Shave Cream Bowl: Sarah Welch Pottery A/S: Fine L'Orange Noir Day 14 Used #8 setting today and I'm not sure whether I liked it or not. I did end up with a DFS, 3 passes. I'll try the same setting tomorrow. It could have been just me. I also didn't get the shave cream water mix right tonight which could have been part of the problem. Back to the drawing board. I did like the Fine L'Orange Noir after shave.
The heat goes on here in Montreal and the freeze goes on in my bathroom! Saturday morning's action: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Personna day 6 Stirling Glacial Spearmint SS Gold Bond Moisturizer Osage Rub AS Old Spice Cologne It's official - my Stirling order was shipped this afternoon and it contains at least 9 items, one of them being a Glacial Spearmint soap which is simply magnificent. The scent is dynamite, it lathers beautifully, and the menthol power is insane. Like all of Rod's soaps which I've used, the Spearmint leaves my skin feeling not only frozen and smooth, but also so clean, healthy, and comfortable. The Gold Bond/Rubby Dubby Doo pair so well together to give more soothing and intense cold. How can a menthol monkey like myself go wrong with this set-up?
