Whewwwwww - high 80's this whole week. Here's how I keep my cool! Menthol Monday: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/new Derby Stirling Glacial Lemon Chill SS Stirling Glacial Wintergreen AS Balm Stirling Glacial Wintergreen WH Old Spice Cologne Yupp, the same set-up again for my Menthol Monday and why not - the Glacial Lemon Chill soap has the right combination of fresh, tangy lemon and 25 below zero menthol freezing to be so fresh and invigorating, as well as to put some serious icicles in a man's face with some of the BEST skincare one can ask for. The Glacial Wintergreen balm and witch hazel are both absolutely necessary at all times for me without question. Back to the Derby blades for this week!
Monday's Dove Men Face Wash Kiss My Face Cool Mint moisture shave Jayaruh #17 (first shave) Gem 1912 (first shave) Treet Super SE CWR, Asma Alum Block Thayers Lemon WH Pinaud Clubman The Kiss My Face Cool Mint moisture shave face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #17 boar brush. One pass and touch ups with my Gem 1912 razor and a Treet Super SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. This is a great little razor. I have just designated it as a favorite. It has received an asterisk in Jayaruh's Shave Den. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

This brush handled well this morning. Lots of backbone with soft tips. As a synthetic brush gets larger in knot base size and greater in density, the length of the effective knot can be decreased if the fibers are thinner. This one at an effective loft of 45 mm would be about the shortest you can go and still get great peformance due to the thin Gen 3 fibers. This brush is a keeper.
The same kind of frigid and wonderful shave that I had yesterday with the same soap, balm, witch hazel and cologne. The Glacial line cannot be beaten for quality, IMHO.
08/17/2015 Razor – Gillette Slim (J3) set on 9 Blade – Feather (1) Brush – EJ XL STF Lather – AOS Sandalwood Cream Post - Witch Hazel & Captain’s Choice Sandalwood with Menthol Added A great 3 pass near BBS shave this morning. About the best I can do on a workday morning. The EJ synthetic brush lathered up the AOS cream into a thick slick lather. Finished off with CC Sandalwood with menthol added.

8/17/15 - Test Week!!! I learned a new technique yesterday, Slicing. Pushing the blade while using a slicing action to cut the hairs better. Think cutting bread, or the Gillette slide. Today I learned what happens if you stop pushing the blade but still do the slicing motion. Yep.... It took a bit, but finally got the bleeding stopped. Only 2 passes today, but really that's all that was needed. Straights can be very efficient when used properly.

Menthol Monday Fine FrostByte today. My HIS made thick lather almost instantly from this venerable soap - it's from the early days of HTGAM, and diminished not one bit in scent or performance. The Fatboy did its grim duty upon my stubble using the sweet spot settings for me 9-7-7. I think this blade won't last long, though, it felt a little tuggy. I finished up with Fine Platinum for the menthol as much as the scent. It's going to be a hot day.
