The Mitchell's Wool Fat Shave Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #18 Silver Tip brush. Two passes with my Gem Push-button razor and a GEM Stainless SE blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Lemon WH and then Pinaud Clubman after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Gillette Slim G3 (9)
    Feather blade (2)
    Edwin Jagger XL Synthetic
    Trumper's Coconut cream
    Two passes
Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, Trumper's Coral Skin Food

This is my first SOTD post since returning from an Alaskan cruise with my Bride. So far this month, I have shaved with the Slim set on 3, 5 and 7. For the final week of August, I have the Slim set to 9. My vacation shaves were neither as relaxing nor as good as my shaves at home. It seems that we were always rushing to get out and see the beautiful sights (or eat again :)). Due to packing limitations, I used a minimal set up, which included the Slim loaded with a Feather blade, my E.J. synthetic brush, and Trumper's cream. Pre-shave was liquid shower soap, and post-shave was CeraVe lotion. I left all my other foofoo pre- and post-shave products at home. So far, the shaves with the Slim on a setting of 7 have been the best overall. My opinion may change this week, as I'm back in the comforts of my own Den.

On the plus side, I'm getting significantly better results with the E.J. synthetic brush using the good advice that I've received from Clint...add water to the knot slowly and take more time building the lather. In order for me to get the same results, a synthetic brush requires more patience and effort than a boar or badger brush.

I hope you all are having a great week!

It takes a really hard-core menthol maniac (like myself!) to shave with this kind of set-up because we're talking about some very serious, major freezing which can wreak havoc on somebody whose skin cannot tolerate anything so intense. The Glacial Lemon Chill soap's lather is so rich, easy-to-create, so stable as well as so bitterly-cold with a most delightful scent and such great protection against dryness or irritation. The Glacial Wintergreen balm and witch hazel can out-freeze even the Rubby Dubby Doo or the Penguin. My Super Speed/Derby combination always deliver on the closeness, smoothness, and comfort. ;) :D

    Razor: Gillette Rocket HD 500
    Blade: Gillette Spoiler (D8)
Brush: Vie-Long 75th Anniversary LE Two Band
    Bowl: Symmetrical Pottery
    Pre Shave Scrub: MRGLO
Pre Shave Oil: Homemade Lavender Mint

    Shave Cream: Castle Forbes Lavender

Looks like a defect on the Vie-Long but it is just a reflection from the bottle and shave cream

Decided to try something other than one my top shelf soaps/creams for a change. The downside of having too many choices is that some really good products don't get used often.

    30 day Focus - Day 25
    MDC Lavender Face Lathered
Voskhod Blade (Day 1 on blade, Day 1 on Voskhod)
    Slim Adjustable set to 8
    3 passes

I like the Voskhod blade a lot, being just behind my favorite, which is the Ladas. The Voskhod always seems super smooth and is plenty sharp for me. Very nice shave today.

OMG, cold is not the word after this great shave - it's seriously FRIGID. The Glacial Lemon Chill soap delivered a ton of lather and a freeze which could give a polar bear pneumonia. The Glacial Wintergreen balm and witch hazel added two tons of additional iciness and perfect skincare!

After a day off from shaving, I have a very good near BBS 3 pass shave this morning. It's been awhile since I have used this brush and had forgotten how much backbone it truly has. Finished off with a splash of Fine Platinum.
