Not sure if it was all that quick or not or if I even have it down, but definitely world from where I was before. I will keep learning and keep improving. Thank you for everything, especially keeping the 30 day threads going. It really is the greatest resource I have found here at TSD and that is with all the great resources this site has to offer!
Thanks for your kind words! I am glad you found us! By doing this you are creating a literal daily journal of your shaves, and a record of your incremental progress. It is obvious that you made big trades over just a month! I look forward to seeing you participate next month. And congrats on completing a 30 Day Rule! It will pay off as you start to explore new razors and such. Angle is key, good lather helps, technique trumps tools.
Thanks much @GDCarrington ! Ok so that tells me that my sense of being able to shave under my nose more easily with the Slim, is confirmed by the physical dimensions of that razor vs the Fatboy - as your comparison shows. (Yes, yes, as well as the size of my very Italian proboscis! I figured I'd beat @NCoxSTL to that statement first!- Ha!) Does this also mean that the curvature difference between the Slim and Fatboy would also result in there being a different optimal blade cutting angle? Riding the cap as much as I do, I could not tell if the cutting angle was much different. Thanks again!
No rude comments about your Italian nose from this Irishman. One of my best friends at work is Italian (last name Valenti) and my boss is Sicilian (Scariano). I'm an Irishman who knows when to keep his mouth shut. Besides, the drinking jokes about Irishman outnumber Italian nose jokes.
Thanks Neal, for the nice words and generous complement comparing me with your own yearning for quantitative reasoning. Looking back on all your detailed blade analysis tells me that any hairball coming out of me will always be a lower case aaack, compared to your upper case AAACK!!! attacks!
Yes, that's it! Here is a video of @Bama Samurai and @RufusT demonstrating the September handshake. You will need to know it by Tuesday. Good luck!
I'm Irish too. If we can find two more we'll be set. Cause where there are four Irishmen there will be a fifth.
Three Irish guys walked out of a bar.... ...wait! It could happen. Edit: I honestly didn't know @cmorris357 had posted this when I replied. Great rednecks think alike.
I studied my personalized greetings Kung fu this summer under this supervision of 9th Deg Master Cortez Lewis, and attained a black belt, second degree. I can only aspire...
Hmmm... Whiskey then beer; never fear. Beer then whiskey; very risky. I never retired, but I'm only part time since 2000.
My Ancestors were largely Scots...we invented distilled alcohol, golf, calculus, stained glass, plaid and haggis. A little something for everybody, and all items on that list could lead to trouble.
30 day Focus - Day 28 MDC Lavender Face Lathered Voskhod Blade (Day 2 on blade, Day 4 on Voskhod) Slim Adjustable set to 8 3 passes Another day, another great shave.
Well done Adam, my time to learn to hone is coming soon. You progress is an inspiration to me. I can't see sending razors back and forth across the pacific just to have them honed.
1959 E3 Gillette Fat Boy Vulfix Super Badger (660) Georgetown G12 Scuttle Noxzema Proraso Sandalwood cream Aqua Velva Ice Blue Shave #3 with the Rapira Super Stainless in my '59 Fat Boy set to 6. Paid attention to the angle and once again tried to ride the cap. 2 Full passes: Pass 1 WTG on my face and XTG on my neck. Pass 2: ATG. Very comfortable. Left me with a near BBS. Did cold water rinse and touch up. Seemed BBS at this point. The Aqua Velva was very quiet today and no whiskers woke up anywhere. Yes! A nice BBS finish. Another nice BBS from the Rapira Super Stainless without a lot of effort. Still felt like there wasn’t a blade in the razor when going WTG. The cold water rinse really helps stand 'em up before doing my touch up. Hope everyone has a great weekend!
