Quick tip of the hat to The Soap Exchange (TSE)! The third time was a charm. TSE had sent me two other recipes (about a year ago) to which I could not give a positive review. I enjoyed their scents but the performance was lackluster at best. Earlier this week I received a wonderful surprise package that included two newly formulated soaps, a shave oil, and a beard oil. I tried the oil immediately on my goatee...loved it! The scent, Juniper Cove, is incredible! It reminds me of Burberry London cologne for men. A little drop provided adequate coverage for my goatee and immediately made my hairs softer to the touch. Greta stuff.

I was finally able to try the soap today (I have been out sick the past few days and shaving was no on my to do list...actually, nothing was on my to do list except feel better). That being said, I had a few days growth to get rid off, so I pulled out the TSE Bay Rum shave soap, my Semogue Owners Club boar, and Feather SS folding straight. A quick load and slow addition of water whipped up a beautiful lather. I let it sit for a while to test the lather hold (past TSE recipes did not hold and the lather thinned quickly); it held great so then I lathered my face and let it sit again. No problems whatsoever...this soaps builds a great lather and holds. After a two pass shave, my skin felt extremely smooth and soft. The soap had nice cushion but what really impressed me was the slickness of the soap. This soap provides exceptional protection and I ended up with an outstanding shave. Like I said, third time is a charm. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this soap! I would place the soaps performance on my top 10 list...that is how much I like it. I would like to see the puck in a slightly bigger tin, but it's easily transferable and I think the puck will last a long, long time. A company that cares this much about their products performance is easy to endorse. Their customer service is excellent and, without any reservations, I can now say their product is as well. Please give them a chance, you won't be disappointed.
