My 3rd shave of the month wasn't as good as the first 2. I have a tough beard and sensitive skin so blades irritate me faster then most. I'm going to give the blade one more day but if it doesn't feel good on the first pass ill switch it out before my 2nd. My Semogue boar made short work face lathering the Proraso red into soft creaminess. I did a 3 pass and achieved BBS but with 1 or 2 weepers and some irritation below the jawline. I'm still in love with the Schick Model G I just need to change blades every other shave to eliminate any irritation.
I have actually not, but have no less than five varieties of TSD Splash on hand. The samples are actually great, have ordered them too. ISZ Subzero gets used very often and is unscented, in fact got such good results on Splash I just quit looking. I use M Bomb, AS Splash and have used TSD two shave sticks. I have also ordered menthol crystals. Also issued a vow on "what are you waiting in to arrive?" to never run out of ISZ Splash, as I put it under everything basically. Plan ahead though when you add TSD stuff to your rotation. All products by @Queen of Blades are made to order, and can take up ten biz days to ship, but are the best in the biz! Her stuff is the only thing other than Alum that sees daily use month to month in my never ending shave experiment.
My dogs name is Pippin, and he's sleeping on my chest as I lay in the recliner right now. He's more spoiled than the kids.
I joke that my dog owns us. If aliens come down, they might think we worship dogs, we do all the work and hand out the food, and they just lay in the sun and daydream.
I've been fortunate with J3 and I2. G will come up this sometime on this 3-day weekend, so quit scaring me!
I have found it mild. I could hardly feel the blade. My fat boy on 7 feels more aggressive. So does my oldtype and sterling. I was wondering about the trouble you seem to be having since mine I mild and smooth. I give mine a very shallow angle. The top of the head is almost touching my face with the handle stuck nearly perpendicular to my face. Hopefully you can get it dialed in. In my opinion the G type is giving me the smoothest best most comfortable shaves this side of straight razors.
It's me, I am scraping with a bad angle. Habit from OC handle angle previous 92 of 93 days. I fear I am fighting muscle memory, so to speak. I believe once I get it, it will be great. The BBS appears for sure.
It's a different beast from the DE razors. I guess my relative newness is helping me since I don't have any habits to get in the way. I ride the cap and try for the shallowest angle for every razor I even shave pretty shallow with straights and shavettes. I cant remember ever cutting myself except for cutting off the odd bump and the occasional weeper. I also shave with my DE crooked so it slides across my face like a slant. I didn't realize I was doing it until my fiance's kids asked me why I was doing it.
