  1. Yep. $5 shipped off the Bay. Apparently, the combination of the quality engraving and my soon to be famous (I am sure) name was not enough to drive the price up further. I figured I would rescue it from further damage and possible disposal.
  2. Wow a quality razor and engraving for $5 ! - that's far better than I ever did on that site! :lam:
  3. Nice scores! :happy088:
  4. Planned day 9 with the schick type J. Day 1 using a teflon coated schick blade.

  5. With all the luck I have had on the Bay, I'll take it. At least this one truly was "AS Described"
  6. Or perhaps would have been best advertised by :

    "As inscribed" !

  11. Had another two good shaves yesterday and today with Jack's shave cream. I find that I need to load a wee more water (we are talking minimal quantities) but the resulting lather is amazingly slick. Yesterday's shave with my 8/8" half hollow meatchopper was the smoothest I have had in a while and today's shave with my Feather DE was equally good, comparable to some shaves I've had with other really good soaps and creams. Still about 3 weeks to go with this shave cream and I don't mind a bit :)

  12. Today was a good day.the shave this morning was one of the best.not the best but one of them.I am excited about the next two days as I have bay rum shave soap,a boar brush and some bay rum aftershave on its way.not to mention a 100 pack of astra blades ordered on Monday .....now I'm going to try and resist the urge to use my new shave stuff.I think it might be against the 30day rules.

  14. Good stuff coming. Definitely try hard to stick to the standard you have been using. The more consistency you can have the better in the long run with the 30 day rule. Definitely play with the Aftershave though. It is not covered by the rule.

  15. Idk what is going to be harder not using the shave soap and brush or sticking to the blades as I only have two left of the persononas (that's not spelled right but you know)

This razor had moved into a tie with Phoenix OC for my top performer. I have the irritation issues and stroke pattern solved a bit better and am really liking it after 8 days. It took a few days to see the light and have it all come together, but now more than ever I am glad I didn't bail after day 4....Super busy thread, thanks guys for keeping the buzz going! Lots of great shaves on the thread lately. Super busy day trying to get back in the groove after the holiday weekend. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

    Have a wonderful Wednesday!
    :)
  17. 1)E and G
    2) scrubbing bubbles
    3) I wish I did, it's a cool razor!
    4) scrubbing bubbles! (Won't hurt gold in moderate short duration doses, but dawn is ok too)

Sweet finds, you are setting up a nice little vintage collection there! :happy088:
  18. You may wanna consider just making the switch to soap and brush. And please switch to Astra if you like. Just mentally restart your exercise. @wmbjr gave you good counsel in that you just don't want to be introducing new variables often for the first month or two. Holding things constant places the attention on the shave itself, and will give you the fundamental understanding and skill to use any DE razor after a time. You're doing great!
  19. Very nice! I need to revisit Astra. It tore me up a year ago as a new shaver, but those blades may have really improved since then...;)
