Speaking of an excellent twosome, I hope I can say the same about my Rise Super Foamy and Clubman A.S.

I looked at my SOTD and realized that the homemade label might have made you think I messed with the ingredients. I just like my own labels! :)

Stephan's makes great products. I found the Island Lime at a local beauty supply store and it turned out to be a den favorite.

    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    sotd55.jpg

PREP: SHOWER WITH STIRLING ISLAND MAN
RAZOR: GILLETTE SUPER SPEED FLAIR TIP
    BLADE: LORD SUPER STAINLESS
    BRUSH: FINE ANGEL HAIR SYNTHETIC
    SOAP: STROP SHOPPE-BLACK TIE
    POST: CVS BRAND AQUA VELVA

Sorry about the sideways picture. My phone has a mind of it's own, there is no rhyme or reason for the direction of the pics. Anyways, had a decent 2 pass shave until the knot fell out of my brush when I was drying it, so I took a Dremmel and took the old glue out and put fresh glue in. I am hoping this will hold the knot, because this is a great brush so I don't know why it fell out, but sometimes stuff happens. The Strop Shoppe made a great lather and has a suttle masculine scent, so I figured I would pair it with AV today. Hope everyone has a great shave and a great day!!

    Today was New Product Day.

    Goodfella razor
    Simpsons Duke 2 Silvertip
    Captain's Choice Lime soap
    Captain's Choice Bay Rum AD

The Goodfella has nice weight in the handle and a mild head. Similar to a DE89, but sadly cheaper made(blade alignment but manageable)... While I do love the handle, it would have been just a tad nicer if there was a way to keep the handle from "rolling" between the fingers and my pinky tended to roll off the rounded end.

This is officially the best(most expensive) brush I have now. I had a hard time getting the lather to build but that may be due to my use of a synthetic the past month or so. I didn't have a super wet lather but i had to add more soap a couple times and still didn't get it to "grow" like I'm accustomed to lately.

I can see why people like Bay Rum. Nice hint of spice. And it may be because I had a DFS today, but even with the first ingredient listed being alcohol, there was minimal stinging if any.

I think 80% of the fun in our hobby is trying new things.. The other 20% being finding the things to try.

Geo F Trumper is a soap with a bad name, I purchased mine from ebay a few years back and was told that this was an older version. I do not know about that, but I do know it works, and given the reputation that follows GFT soaps in the forums I am inclined to believe that this is indeed a discontinued version

This is still not a great performer, but gets the job done. It's been a while since I last used it, and therefore I did not lathered the optimal way. That being said, I did get an enormous amount of lather. It was thick, slightly creamy, with a little too much air and lacking of slickness

The Polsilver Stainless blade is usually one of my favourite blades, but this particular one has to be a dud. It is the second time I used it and it behaved like a Supermax blade. I tried a few strokes with the EJ de89 loaded with an Astra blade, and it fared much better
Still, I decided to finish with the Polsilver and managed to squeeze a CCS out of it in three passes.

    Razor: Merkur 34c
    Blade: Polsilver Stainless
    Brush: The Sithspawn
Soap: Geo F Trumper Coconut Soap
Aftershave: Krampert's Finest Bay Rum Aftershave

    Soap: TSD Iced Bay Rum
    A/S: TSD Iced Bay Rum
    Day 20
An amazing shave this afternoon with this above combination. The Shave Den Bay Rum soap builds an outstanding lather. I left the container open while I soaked my brush and when I returned to the bathroom the whole room smelled of Bay Rum. The A/S was the same distinct fragrance but more lasting than the Captain's Choice Bay Rum. The same applies to the TSD Bay Rum Shave Soap. IMHO I don't believe you can compare the two as (Captain' Choice) TSD product is by far a better soap and A/S. IMO. I had to change the blade in the Ever-Ready this afternoon.

    Shave of the day

Pre- Hot shower, Jumping Juniper shampoo cake from Lush
Soap/cream- Proraso blue goo in a can
Razor- WEBER polished head stainless steel
    Blade- Personna platinum chrome
Post- Cold water rinse, Humphreys witch hazel, Lucky tiger Bay rum aftershave lotion and Monu Vitru Age Combat (supposed to be good after shaving)

Hmm.. It was soooooo long ago I used Goo in a can. I can say it was interesting! It was nice with the scent and slight menthol chill. It wasn't as satisfying as a brush and soap.

The Personna reds were ok, but I'm gonna try them with a soap that I know a little better so I can eliminate all factors that can affect the shave and really try the blade out.

The Monu was nice, but I don't know. I feel like I want to add some more moisture right now, but it's because I didn't put much on.

    Karita's Shaving Soap
    Omega 50014 boar travel brush
    Nivea Post Shave Balm

The shave of the gods! Four passes with the above for the last week has resulted in a baby bottom smooth shave every time. My face is still baby bottom smooth over four hours later. The skincare on the soap is so good that no aftershave balm is needed. Using the Nivea, with its wonderful lavender scent, just makes a great shave even a little better.
