Razor A: Ever-Ready 1914 WW1 SE Razor B: Merkur 34 C Blade A: Gem Blue Star SE (4) Blade B: Feather (7) Brush: Fendrihen Silver Tip Badger Black Faux Handle 22/49 Soap: Knockout Shave Cool Blue A/S: Pinaud Lime Day 21 Another great shave tonight. Probably a BBS shave after spending a little time working with the Ever-Ready 1914 razor. Still have difficulty getting close around the noise. The 34C cleans up what the 1914 misses. Knockout Shave Cool Blue is a great soap which leaves a slick coating on my face.
We should take a vote on what his salary should be. Sounds like a lot of work, and ,therefore, he should be paid accordingly.
The Crazy Ivan in SEptember! September 21 Razor - Gillette 1918 Old Style Blade - (3) Brush - BoS Omega 10066 Soap - Tabac Post - Cold Water, Alum, More cold water, Styptic Well, either valor or laziness led the day today. Didn't have to be at orientation for the new job until 10 so I slept in a bit, had a nice breakfast and hit the shower. Hey, the Rimei and 1918 were a good match yesterday so why not give it a third day on the blade and just enjoy another aggressive shave. After all I can throw the BoS and Tabac at it for a great lather. What's the worst that could happen? Well, ok so it wasn't quite that bad. The WTG pass was good if a bit more aggressive than yesterday on the neck. I can tell the blade is good for three shaves and no more. Went for XTG and had my first problem. I can't even blame it totally on the blade but.....there was a small bump near my right ear. I suspect it was a bug bite from yesterday's romp in the woods. I didn't notice it in the mirror, nor did the WTG catch it. Boy did the XTG though. I mean I felt it nearly stop the blade then almost in slow motion just go right through. Yeah, fun sensation. With the aggressiveness of the '18 it was a moment I won't soon forget. Looked at the mirror and saw the nice river of blood running down to my jaw line. Washed it off, very small cut actually, so away we go with the rest of the XTG. Finished that pass at DFS like yesterday so good enough for the day. Started repairs with cold water and pressure, alum, more cold water then a styptic treatment. All's well and the first day is done and I'm home. Hope your Monday treated you well.
What a wonderful time! Making fond memories that mountains of money can't buy. Enjoy it together a few more times over the next couple years and he'll remember it forever. Very cool.
Thank you sir! but everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, that I learned about traditional shaving I learned from TSD, and in particular - the 30-Day thread! (truth in advertising - i also learned from the Mantic videos...but they were through the posts on TSD.) so take a bow everybody!:wave::wave:
You see? Right there! With that brief response, that economy of words, sums up all of what came before in a short and ultimate describable way to where the reader has the complete experience of all the posts that preceded it - in just one word!!! This, my friends, is the man for the job! The right man, at the right time, my fellow Americans, it is my honor to place this name in nomination for the Presidenc... (ooh sorry, got a tad carried away on that one.) but y'all got the point right! Bring it on Adam!arty:
Lot of stuff in your post! It has been so cool to watch you ease into this! Reading your posts, and others, over the past few weeks has made me reexamine my methods and have forced me to consciously improve my own technique. Thank you!!
...and on that note...(with a tip of the cap to songmeister extraordinaire @GDCarrington ) Here's to @Drygulch and all you 30-Day Denizens for continuing the quest, to return to the scene, to keep up with the show that never ends, that is the 30-Day Thread... Ladies and germs, please welcome - ELP!!!
@Drygulch Adam, We gotta talk strop and SR setup sooner or later. I am gonna take a run at it with the straight the I have coming down the line, from the August Raffle ( kudos @Queen of Blades and @HolyRollah ). It's nowhere near ready, but My 30 Day calendar has a slot in 2016 for my "90 Days to get it or quit it" with an SR.
