That's a rare Canadian type E 2 model you have there...I don't own one of these and I cant comment on how aggressive it is but some of the Canadian E types are very mild compared to some of the USA made models....That's a paradox of course because as I mentioned before some of the Canadian Type E s are the most aggressive Schick injectors ever made.....

SEptemberSo far this month I've shaved with a variety of Schick injectors for the first time (Type C1, C3, E, G, I and J), a PAL Adjustable injector and a few Gems (1912, Featherweight and Pushbutton).

Today is my second shave using a 1941 Gem (Micromatic) "Clog Pruf” but put in a new Gem PTFE blade after about 4 uses.


Two-pass shave.

1st pass - Definitely the most aggressive Gem I've used so far. I got good blade feedback and good reduction on the XTG pass. However, I was not working it well around my goatee.

2nd pass - ATG gave a large amount of feedback, similar to what I’ve gotten from the other Gems in the ATG pass. Resulted in a very nice shave, mostly clean and smooth with no irritation, except...

I finally had one of those shaves that eventually each of us experience at least once, where the little voice in your head whispers - "Walk away."

It started on the first pass, working around the goatee, I knew I wasn't getting it right. Angle, approach, direction, everything seemed, well, awkward. A couple of weepers on first pass.

Then came the second pass, clean and smooth around the rest of the face, yet the whisper continued as I struggled again to get it right around the chin, mouth and goatee - nick - "Walk away"...weeper - "Walk away"...cut - "WALK AWAY"...nick - "NOW, YOU OBSTINATE FOOL!"

No witch hazel or alum could stem the damage.

"What happened to you!" gasped SWMBO as she saw dangles of TP pasted to my face like billets on a telephone pole.

Lesson learned - ditch the ego, - Walk away!

That's an OCMM you are displaying there Sir....The Clog - Pruf has a bar guard and is very user friendly....The OCMM can take more than a moment to master and they are not for everybody....Out of all the SEs I have used I had a Love/Hate relationship with this one for a wee while....It tore my face to pieces until I realized that it has to be used "Almost Totally" "Flat Against the Face"...You only have a about a 2 degree room for error with this razor...In addition...A "Very Light than Lighter Touch" is the order of the day....A Feather like Touch for a better word....This is where it gets its reputation from....Its a not a very aggressive razor, but its very hard to use...The Clog - Pruf is equally as aggressive but a lot more user friendly because of the guard bar design...What you are going through is quite common...

Hmmm....I can't tell from the angle of the photo if it's a Clog-pruf or OCMM....Sorry to hear of any bloodletting during shaving...but been there done that, ha,ha...The Red Badge of Courage if it were...

Fergie's right on about the angle....if you put it flat on your face on your cheek, then as you start that N-S stroke slowly lower the handle and let the sound be your guide....Then keep that angle for the rest the shave....I'm like you, If I'm going to have a problem, it will usually show up on my goatee area....I've had to except that some razors just don't work ATG from my chin to the bottom lip....and of course some do....luckily....}8^)) Thats where sometimes a slightly less aggressive razor will actually shave closer, because of the freedom to buff against the grain...

I found the ER1924 was one very aggressive razor that afforded me the same freedom as a mild razor....Probably because of that elusive 'Smooth' factor...

Had a second look...It might be a Clog - Pruf right enough.....Same technique though as the OCMM...

You're right, it is a clog-pruf, my photo angle is bad so it looks a tad like my OCMM, but I've got that tucked away for OC OCtober. This clog-prof has that ridged bar.

Anyway, you guys taught me to ride that flat cap right along the beard and it worked with all the Gems I've used - featherweight, g-bar, push button, and the 1912 gave me the smoothest dolphin skin ever! Even this CP gave me a great shave riding that slanted cap.

But with the nooks, crannies, weird angles and saggy old skin all around my mouth and goatee, along with the narrow blade comfort angle of this razor, I just sunk from the start. I didn't have that problem with the other Gems, but sometimes these things just happen. We'll get back on that horse on Thursday.

I'm traveling 250 miles across the state of Washington for work and I've got my travel kit and the Schick Type C1 OC for my early morning pleasure on Wednesday.

Yesterday, I bit the bullet and put in an order for five 20 blade injector dispensers. With shipping it was $32.20. At 32.2 cents a blade, I would say it is a bargain. One hundred blades will last me a long, long time.

Atta Boy Jay.....Somethings in life, should be stockpiled...and I can't think of anything more important....Congrats....

I was thinking of having a complete physical and sitting down with my Doctor and figuring just how many more years I can expect to live...Then figuring how many more shaves that would be....and adding 50% more blades just in case life played a cruel joke, and I lived longer than expected........I mean, hey....If I pass over early, someone will inherit some killer shave kit, but if I pass over late.....there might not be any injector blades in 15 or 20 years........I'd have to grow a beard in my old age and look even older...

With my luck it'll turn out just like my shave did - I'll be the one bleeding!

You will get there with the Clog - Pruf Sir...I gave a spare one to my brother and he is over the moon with it....I did things the other way round and tore my face to shreds with the OCMM until I almost gave up on it....Trust the Guard bar to guide you...

I will be on the type J/Chick blade bandwagon again tomorrow. This is easily my favorite SE combo. That is until I get home from vacation and can try Chick blades in my Type F, E, L or I1 for the first time

Man, I loved it! Thank You! I've talked about from the earliest pages of this Party Thread...That the G8 and E2s were the injectors at the top of my "Injector Wish List"...

Well this is a lovely specimen...Shaves exactly like I would discribe, the way a G type is suppose to shave...Just a tad less aggressive than my E2 but definitely more SE like than the I types on...In other words, kind of like the early E2s without the weepers....ha,ha! This might be my Goldie-locks injector....I dig it, and will be keeping this one close to me in my smallest circle of favorite razors!Wow! It's been so long, I had forgotten how great these G's can shave! Thanks Mustache...You

Also I want to Officially Thank "Straight Razor Designs" for their great Shaving Soap I won at the Seattle Shave Con.... I got a tub of their "Blood Orange" and it's smokin!! Smells great but even better, it is very easy to whip up a very thick, cushiony, slick, voluptuous...lather....

So, @jeraldgordon ....you and I were checking out those soaps...the Blood Orange Rocks!! How was that Lavendar....? When I sniffed it, I got a touch on my thumb, and man! I was talking to Rufus T later, and rubbing my thumb and said, Man, my thumb feels 20 years younger...if this stuff works on your face like that....They would card me to buy beer after a few shaves....

I like the ribbed handle on the G 8....Its got a real functional grip and easy to nip between your fingers at the end of it for a wee bit of extra length..

I'm so glad it works good for you. That means it was me and not the razor. I haven't given up all hope on the injectors, I still believe the I1 will do good as it did the other times I've used it.... Maybe I'll go back and try it again today..

Do you ever feel like contacting a seller to let them know they are under valuing their products? Obviously after purchasing yours . I certainly feel like contacting a seller when he priced his item so high it's unrealistic...

I had shave number 5 on this Chick Injector blade today in my Schick Type F....This blade feels as sharp as the day I put it in the razor after my 5th three pass shave with the most perfect irritation free close BBS Result....The Chinese know how to make a blade that's for sure...
