What Straight Razor Did You Use Today?

I was reducing my den quite a bit, and am trying to cut down to 5 DEs. I hardly every use DEs since I have gotten into straights. It wasn't as hard to let them go as I thought it would be. I am at the point of my shaving where if it doesn't give a really good experience, with hardware of software, I don't want to use it. Of these razors, the only one I might miss is the Black Tip, but I am glad they are going to where they will be used. The trade was to a member in Germany, so he got some razors that are harder to get there, and I got some that are harder to get here. I am happy with the trade, and glad my DEs are going to someone who will use them.

What happened to my brush is that it started getting shorter and I did not notice it right away. I think the hairs got the tips burned. The wife still likes it so no loss but a good Thater aint cheap. Since then I have moved on to FS Knots for a lot less and I like them a lot. However one of those I had a knot fall out and I am sure it was the heat. I reglued it in and all was well

Spelled it wrong too,Molinard Rasoline. It's brushless, so that takes away about half the fun of shaving. Rasoline will deliver a fine shave but it's no dice because of no brush needed. Occasionally I'll use brushless but find it messy.

Apparently, anything above 40C/104F is too hot for your badger brush, and the hairs will begin to denature.

Seems low, but that's what I've read. My personal guide is if I can't hold my hand under the water, it's too hot.

    Fridays shave
Schulze 9/16 - pretty dainty but oh so pristine and what an edge
    Razorock Son Of Zeus, Speick

UPDATE: Every time I use the Speick in a hot scuttle it comes out of the tube soft and before I can get it mixed in with the soap it gels into a lump. I can eventually get it all mixed into a lather but it is a pain. Is it because of the hot scuttle? The blade has been used by my wife on her legs for at least a year ( once a week) it has started showing signs of needing a refresh. I did get a decent shave, not spectacular. I will do some strokes on the cr ox and try it

Sure a bit 'dainty', but it is an elegant-looking shaver! Finished on your strata?

I've since decided to stick with my normal routine and use regular hot water from the tap. I've been soaking this way for the past year with my Simpson, guess it will be best

I used the only straight I own (my avatar pic) with vergulde hand soap and a home made boar brush. ( purchased at a farmers market from a local guy) can't get any more specific because I'm on the back porch enjoying a cigar ( Joya red) both very good!

    SOTD Friday
    Proraso red
Simpson special S1 best badger brush
Wade & Butcher Bow 1830's SR
    Clubman original

The soap still performs like it should after the microwave incident. It is a little bit softer than it used to be. Still a great shave.
I did notice the other day that there was a bur on the side of the tip that was why I kept getting scratches every time I used this SR. Now that I have removed the defect, this is a great shaving blade.

Yes, but see above post on the update. ( I finish everything on the Naniwa 12k and then Strata) It just works for me. One of these days I will likely get a Gukumyo but so far have been happy with what I have

    C-MON Caddy— a 'Top Five' pick, if I were to make a list. Fortunately, I don't have to… :D
