Sorry about the bowl! When I use a bowl I don't use my ceramic (wet hands) I usually grab my cheap plastic salsa bowl that I picked up at Walmart.

I had a great shave this morning. I managed to ignore the voices again, so I kept the irritation down, but I did do a little clean up on my neck. I am DFS, bordering on BBS.

I have been using Stirling soaps for the past three shaves, and I have to say they have been performing fantastically. I have been getting great lathers, even better than I normally get from Stirling. Cushion, protection, slickness. They have had it all, and the face feel after has been great.

Shave #1 with the Lord Platinum Class in my Gold Tech. A comfortable BBS shave.
Face lathered, then did 2 full passes: Pass 1 WTG on my face and XTG on my neck (top to bottom today). Pass 2: ATG. A solid DFS at this point. Did a cold water rinse followed by some targeted touch up in my problem areas. The Aqua Velva stung like the dickens today. While I was rubbing it in, it felt like I was only going to come away with a DFS+, but an hour after the shave, I don't feel any signs of stubble in my trouble areas, so I'm making the call: BBS!

This is my first BBS from the Gold Tech. The first 8 out of 11 shaves from the Birthday Tech were BBS, then I hit a dry spell with my last two shaves. Those were with the Personna Platinum (Israeli Reds). I moved that blade to the Gold Tech and didn't do any better. Neither did my efforts with the Gillette 7 O’clock Super Platinum (Black). Not sure if just lost the angle or if it’s the blade combination. Probably a little of both. Either way, I'm glad to finally get a BBS shave out of it. I'll stick with the Lord Platinum Class blades for two more days.

I the shave yesterday so much that I keep everything but the brush the same. It was a good choice as this morning was another great 2 pass shave. I finished off with a splash of Myrsol F/Extra. Happy Friday everyone.

The fishing trip got cancelled last minute due to poor weather, so will be staying home and playing with all my new gear

I have been extremely busy for a few days and rather lax in checking in. I've actually missed you guys

Today was day two with my Ever Ready 1924 and I like this razor. This thing has quite a bit of blade exposure and has nice audible feedback. I think I have these Gem/Ever Ready razors figured out. Keep the cap touching the face and I get a consistently good two pass DFS with just a little touch up. These razors will definitely stay in my rotation.
The cool thing about doing a focus is that I am actually learning the proper way to use different types of razors, such as the SE. I haven't needed a styptic pencil in a couple of weeks

In these waning days of SEptember I’ll be alternating between the 1912 and the 1924. I’ve tried each of them once and want to finish this month of SE shaves with a side-by-side comparison.

Today it’s the 1912.
I’ll also be trying a new soap that was made for the 2015 Seattle Shave Convention last week:
"Flannel in the Rain" by Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements



Two-pass shave.
Both passes were made with the razor cap flush with my beard, with short strokes. I find that the higher than normal feedback with this razor also helps remind me to use no pressure.

1st pass - good reduction on the XTG pass.
2nd pass - even more feedback with the ATG pass re-emphasizes a short, slow and no pressure stroke.

Six hours later my skin is still clean, smooth and with no irritation. I would not call the shaving process smooth as I can feel every hair that gets cut. The cut is a slice, not a tug, but I can’t say its a smooth slice.

"Flannel in the Rain” is a luxurious shave cream that does not require a heavy brush load in order to provide a ton of later for a two-pass shave.
Pleasant scent of the air after a spring rain!

Favorite part of this shave? Morning cuppa coffee in my (new to me) 1980’s vintage Old Spice mug - courtesy of @cmorris357 who took pity on me when I lost out on two of the very same mugs in the TSD Raffle in August. Who says whining doesn’t help?!! Thanks Chris!

Day 25
Had to purchase a Ever-Ready 1914 as mine had some structure issues that would allow the blade to seat properly. Sure glade I did. The new to me 1914 provided a two pass BBS. Probably one of the closest shaves I have ever had. The Scimitar Bluebeards Revenge did a great cleanup. I don't see many if any of the Bluebeards Revenge in peoples inventory at TSD. It's a very good razor that is more aggressive than many of my other razors. Jack's soap lather's up very well even with this old brush. Lucky Tiger is Lucky Tiger, and my go to A/S.

Razor - Schick M2 Injector

Day three of the M2 and it's wide open for effect. Let's see what this adjustable can do at its most vicious setting, shall we? Got the pony and Tabac to get a great slick lather so I'm not scared. WTG on the first pass and I can definitely tell a difference from the past two days, especially when compared to the first day at its most mild. This feels like a real razor now. Not so aggressive that it's uncomfortable but you can feel it working now. Much better feedback. Second pass XTG and the first ouch occurred. Minor nick on the neck but nothing serious. The face is done but the neck needed an additional XTG with some sliding action to finish BBS. Yep, it got the baby.

Overall a nice shave again and this is a nice razor. It still didn't win me over to keep it in any kind of rotation but neither injector impressed me that much this month. I still think the Gem 1912 is the superior SE razor of the month and that one will get used again. Nothing wrong with the injector shaves, just not my thing. Though it is hard to argue with Cary Grant.
