  1. Glad you found a little relief, and hope you and the new doc can work on more long term solutions. Hang in There!

Razor – Mongoose B2 with Hempel Ti
Blade – Feather Super Pro (12)
    Brush – Romera Olivewood Synthetic
    Lather – MdC Fougere
Post - Witch Hazel and Fine Platinum

Since the Super Pro is getting a little tired, it took 3 passes to get to my usual near BBS shave this morning. I want to thank Mark @Boojum1 for the generous PIF gift of the Romera Olivewood brush. With it's synthetic knot it whipped up MdC into a very good slick lather. I am thinking that in addition to OC in October, I might add Olivewood shaving brushes to the mix and use only this Romera and the TSD group buy Olivewood. Finished off with a splash of Fine Platinum and I think I am ready for the day. Hope everyone as a great day.
  8. Good morning guys! Surprisingly my knee feels pretty darn good! I need to remain mindful that this is temporary and not to over do it.
Just as I need to remain mindful while shaving that I need to keep it to a three pass shave.
  9. That's a beautiful brush!
  10. Get well soon! I also got my flu shot yesterday! It's that time of years old timers!! :)

  12. 1954 (Z1) Gold Tech
    Frank Shaving Pur-tech Synthetic
    Proraso Sandalwood cream
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Shave #2 with the Rapira Super Stainless in my Gold Tech. Shave #3 with the Frank Shaving Pur-tech Synthetic.
Had much better lather today thanks to Charlie's advice to add the water slowly. I also recall Adam's (Drygulch) advice. In fact, several have mentioned this, it just takes seeing it a few times for it to sink in with me. It worked well. I just added the water a few drops at a time in between building my face lather to avoid splattering the counter.
Did 2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG on my face and XTG on my neck (top to bottom today). Pass 2: ATG. A near BBS at this point. A cold water rinse followed by a very small amount of touch up in my problem areas and once again the baby came home. The Aqua Velva was mild today.

A very nice comfortable BBS shave from the Rapira Super Stainless in my Gold Tech. That makes this combo 2 for 2 in the BBS department. Yea! :happy093:
  13. Thank you. I am very grateful and humbled to have received such as nice gift.
  14. I know the SOTD threads are the pulse of TSD but these monthly threads are a very close second.
  15. Change is in the air.....:duel:

Razor: Gillette Super Speed 1953 Y2
    Blade: Personna Lab Blue
    Brush: L'Occitane Plisson
    Lather: La Toja Shave Stick
Post: Alum block Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate
Aftershave: Folsom & Co. Shady Past
Guys!!! If you haven't spent $6 on a La Toja shave stick yet what are you waiting for?! This soap does it! Everything! I like this Super Speed. Technique matters. Not long ago I couldn't get a bad shave from a SS. I got to thinking about the latest Plisson-like-craze. What's wrong with the Plisson? Nothing. Why do I continue to buy Plisson-like brushes? Crazy. That's why. Shady Past. :)

  17. I have come to prefer these threads over the SOTD, although that is about like saying I prefer my Fatboy over my Phoenix Dbl OC: both are great and I enjoy them each. This thread is very entertaining.

    SEptember Focus Day 27:

    Homemade PS Oil
    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Injector Type G
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    TOBS Sandalwood AS

This month has really opened my eyes to Injector razors. I have to say I really enjoy them. I will definitely include them in my permanent rotation. I got another great DFS this morning. I will have to work on the Gems a bit more, which sounds like another focus.
  19. It is funny, I have found I can learn a lot from him! Now, shaving with a blade may not be something I want him teaching me, at least not for a few more years...
