How well I remember. I used the can goo but it had to be quick. I still remember having those disposable twin blade bic razors that you could use to touch up with just water or sweat during any down time.
Yes the dreaded dry shave Twice a day. We had to carry one with us so if we looked like a shadow might pop up we could hack at it dry in formation.
It definitely earned the respect. I like the razor so far and it produces a wonderful close irritation free shave. Hopefully the month will continue this well . . . without the bites.
That's kind of how I feel about my OCMM but I can't blame a worn stop! The lips and chin are really difficult to approach. I've pretty much given up on WTG and ATG at the edge of the chin and have to rely on XTG there. And super careful getting those pesky little stubbles at the edge and corners of the lip and between the lip and chin. Lots of work but a really close shave. And then there is this guy:
You are obviously allergic to Schick repeaters. I would suggest you box them up and send them to me immediately to prevent any further damage to your face.
Thanks for the kind words @Bama Samurai but all I did was pose a question a few days ago and then OCtober took on a life of its own. I am neither here long enough to know the ropes nor my way around TSD. So the real credit for taking the reins really rests on the very capable and experienced shoulders of @Jayaruh.
Day one with the New Standard provided a great two pass effortless DFS. I really like the weight of this razor (75gr). I see this one ending up in my regular rotation.
I was laughing at your Forces experience's as I was a Bootneck many moons ago..Right the Repeaters then...I would never use a Personna blade in any Repeater.. The Repeaters are very aggressive shavers...That said they are very smooth once you work out the shaving angle...They have no blade stops as you know and what you essentially have is a Blade on the ends of stick with a lot of exposure...Like the OCMM there is very little guidance & or protections from the combs...I personally find that Personna/Pella blades are too harsh and unforgiving in the Repeater's and early Type E s... I would try a Chinese Schick blade sir...I think that you will find them more than a tad more forgiving... I use crazy sharp NOS blades but they are smooth...The Chinese blades are very sharp and will make your Repeater feel less harsh than using personna blades...As far as the shaving angle goes...Well..that's a bit tricky with these but a good starting point is flat against the face and drop the handle a tad...Now...here's the thing with the repeater....That should offer you the mildest shaving experience until you get used to it...But...You can turn up the volume with these by going at a steeper angle....You have Basically got to use these very much like a straight razor as that's what you have essentially got....The angle needs to be very steep and it will feel strange at first... Hope this helps.. Billy
I ran out of Chinese schick blades and when I ordered more I picked up a pack of personna blades too. The schicks got stuck a few days in NY so they weren't here when the new injectors came in for me. I am going to try again in the next few days with a proper blade. I loved the Schick type G so I know I can get good shaves out of these.
