Thanks for your concern. Still not 100% but I'm getting better and better. I had the staples taken out today, and it's much more comfortable without them and on the 22nd I have a follow-up examination.

Ferox Friday Another superb shave with the Futur. I like Voskhod better than Astra SP in this razor. I will try Personna lab blues and Gillette Yellow next. The donut hole in the Ferox is getting quite large now, so I'm debating over whether to put it away or finish it off. It has been a favorite of mine for more than a year. I finished with PAA Lime Ginger Tea Tree for a real eye opener and pleasing scent. Thank God no nicks or cuts today - just a nice, cooling and comfortable BBS shave with my Edwin Jagger Menthol cream. It gave me great lather and the scent is beginning to grow on me. The Alt Innsbruck felt colder than cold!

Yesterday I got two pucks of soap from the Soap Exchange Company. The Scents where Texas Leather and Barber Shoppe. I picked out Texas Leather as the first soap to try as this was the one I was most interested in. I have never been to Texas, and have never smelled their leathery products, but my first sniff was not what I expected. To be honest, I felt quite underwhelmed. My first impression was that it smelled like a mentholated soap with a leather undertone. I think I detected something that reminded me of eucalyptus or maybe it was pine (not Chris) After smelling it a few times more over a few hours, I am no longer certain about that, and I think I understand what they are going for. It smells more like leather being prepared with something. Maybe an oiled saddle or something similar. It smells rather familiar, but also not. I really cannot put my finger on it, but I have to admit to being intrigued by it. The smell is not my cup of tea, but that is a personal preference. But I still think it is quite an accomplishment to produce such a scent in a shaving soap. This soap came with directions for lathering telling me to bloom the soap before use, so I put about a teaspoon of water on top of it, took a shower and started my shave. I spent about ten seconds loading the brush and I noticed almost immediately that this soap would be easy to lather. When I use a soap for the first time, I do not expect the greatest result and usually settle for good enough while I try to get to know this soap. With this soap this was not the case, although the lather looked on the thinner side of excellent, it was of very high quality. It was surprisingly slick and a joy to shave with. Granted the razor and blade combination has proven to be my favourite performer, but the blade was used for the fourth time and behaved like it was brand new. I seldom experience a soap that performed this good the first time I’ve tried it. Maybe I am getting better at lathering (it is not rocket science after all) maybe I was lucky, it was not Maybelline or maybe it was the soap. lol. Really? I'd like to check them out. I have a video or 2 (I think) where I shaved clean shaven. My upper lip is very sensitive, no matter what razor, what direction, it feels irritated (even though it doesn't look it). That's the main reason I don't shave the mustache area. I keep a goatee/van dyke most of the time due to ridicule of being called "pornstache" if I just have a mustache.
Edge with a brush. Hmm. I didn't think it would work with a brush. I failed an experiment with Barbasol with a brush before since it was too fluffy. I wouldn't think gel would lather with a brush......I feel the scientist coming out of me.
Actually, there's nothing you can check, as the ones I do aren't official. I'm, sure I can get help from my "new wave" nephew, on setting it up, but he's away in college. But I do like messing around with "describing" what I do
