  4. So I have some great news, this is my third shave on the Astra green pack blade. I FINALLY got a fantastic lather out of that soap. From my jawline up is the smoothest shave I've ever had. It appears my trouble area is going to be the base of my neck. Tonight was that "wow, so this is what a real shave is" moment. After finishing my shave, I rubbed my chin and couldn't believe what I felt. Better than any cartridge I've ever tried. I absolutely love this black tip razor. It's super controllable, and pretty forgiving. Earlier today I practiced blade angle with the Parker, watching for when the cap and safety bar were both in contact with my face and taking note of my handhold. The razor definitely just slid across my face with an actual lather. Much less irritation. Very satisfied.
  5. October 3 Focus Shave 3

Inspired by my last shave I had high hopes for todays shave. The weather was a little chilly so I broke out the scuttle for some hot lather. The first two passes were excellent but the 3rd felt a little rough, but not horrible. So I went for the 4th pass ATG and completed about 2/3 of it. No blood but the alum let me know there was some irritation. Not BBS but DFS +. I rate this shave irritation B, closeness B+

    Hart Steel 6/8

  6. Congrats. :eatdrink047: The neck gives a lot of folks trouble, myself included. There is one spot at the base of my neck on the left side that still gives me fits. I found that everything from lather to angles really clicked for me at around 30 shaves. You will soon be at the point where you get consistently good to great shaves.

  13. I am doing FB also, will get into the mix later. Glad you're back!
  14. Just be sure to resist the urge to apply pressure, keep the angle low. It will all just magically come together. Promise.
  15. Yes! Though I likely won't be trying til January, but thank you very much and definitely keep me in the loop.
  16. Thanks Charlie... And be sure to buy some Tide gear!

    Gillette Old Type
    Frank Shaving Pur-tech Synthetic
    Proraso Sandalwood cream
    Aqua Velva Ice Blue

Shave #3 with the Rapira Super Stainless in my Old Type.
Did face lather and 2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG on my face and XTG on my neck (top to bottom today). Great reduction and very comfortable, almost DFS. Pass 2: ATG. Almost had a BBS at this point. A cold water rinse followed by a minor touch up and the baby came home. The Aqua Velva was mild compared to the last couple of days.

Another wonderful BBS shave from the Rapira Super Stainless in my Old Type. This combination has been awesome for me and this blade is making a run for the pennant. Nine shaves, and the last eight were BBS. And no irritation beyond the sting of the Aqua Velva. How cool is that! The Gillette Silver Blue is next at the plate. It has a good record, can it stand the pressure and make a clean sweep too?

  18. Wonderful! Happy honeymoon! :eatdrink047:
  19. 30 day focus - Day 3
    Fat Boy set to 5
    Rapira Platinum Lux Blade
    MDC
    3 passes

I had planned to raise the Fat Boy to 6 today, but at the last minute I decided to leave it at 5 in order to get a little more feedback on whether or not I needed to change the setting. Tomorrow I will try it on 6.

Having friends over to watch the game today, so I'm up early to get the house ready. @Bama Samurai as you can see we are house divided and my daughter makes sure I have more than enough Tide gear.

Another fantastic 3 pass shave with the Wolfman. Completely user error that it's not a BBS shave. So far the Wolfman has been one of the most efficient and smoothest DE razors I have tried. I haven't used the Jabonman soap in some time. It's really a great soap that is super easy to lather and very slick with a great scent. Thanks you Adam @Drygulch for the soap. Finished with a splash of Fine L'Orange for a great way to start the day. I hope everyone has a great Saturday.
