Fun trivia: Time Magazine included the headblade in the top ten designs of 2000. And this is how it's done:
Justin I'm really happy with my current setup, using the Gillette Atra handle and I think they're made by Schick blades. If I come across one of the handles at a good price I'll pick it up.
Today and Last day's shave setup Schick Exacta 2 (My favorite disposable razor) Gillette foamy sensitive Omega syntex Axe apollo AS lotion The only razor which beats Trac-II and Atra in terms of shaving efficiency and mildness.
Don't forget to give "Schick slim twin" and "Schick advantage" a try. I like these better than Atra. Don't worry, your atra razor is compatible with these blades. I don't have any access to advantage and slim twin cartridges, but schick exacta disposable delivers the exact same results.
Are single blade disposables, like Bic, et al, the ultimate item for proving the mantra of "techniques trump tools"? (Not trolling) Do techniques trump tools here? That's what I am seeing. I haven't tried one of these in maybe ten years.
To answer your question, I might need to quote your own post http://theshaveden.com/forums/threa...c-discussion-thread.47300/page-12#post-905614 My initial shaves were fantastically poor with BIC 1 classic. At that time, I was convinced that it was the worst razor on the planet to shave with. But, after seeing couple of injector razor shave videos and advanced shaving techniques by @mantic (including the blade buff), Bic was the first razor on which I learned how to blade buff and it gave me super results then. A sharp blade is absolutely necessary, but without a good hand, it is worthless. Sadly, Bic 1 classic is no longer available in my market and I am trying to use my remaining ones, as less as possible. My favorite one is Schick Exacta II disposable. It is very mild, very efficient and it is sold on an adequate price. A razor which is not expensive but isn't cheap like BIC 1 too.
My regular razor for the last 3-4 years has been the Schick Extreme 3 disposable. (12 for $16.99 at Costco!) I can usually get 15-20 good shaves out of it. I shave about 3-4 times/week, both my head and face but I always have at least a mustache and goatee if not a full beard. Dipping my toe into DE shaving but will still likely use the Schick on the ol' melon! (At least for the foreseeable future!)
Emirates Airlines has provided TOBS & T&H disposables for a few years. I have an Xtreme 3 T&H handle.
There are black and white handles, I haven't a clue where mine is and what's branded a TOBS or T&H. But here is a black one:
I am going to try a single blade disposable in the near future, and make the comparison to my results with a Schick injector. Seems like they should shave about the same.
If you get a quality disposable that has a smooth sharp blade. I never found one personally but they must be there somewhere because people who love them areout there and in here too.
