Add me to the list of members that love this site. When I started wet shaving, I joined five forums and mainly lurked. When I finally started posting, this was the most welcoming and friendly forum of the bunch. Many members responded with advice and encouragement. I also received a surprise gift from a very generous member. This is now home for me other than an occasional post on a British site. Thanks guys. Thanks for a great post and Happy Birthday!
Thanks Kerry. I thought that was what I was doing, but evidently not. I'm going to have to get up just a bit earlier and take my time. I'm also going back to the 7 O'clock Blue just to see. As you know, blades perform differently with different razors.
October 8 20's Old Type 7O'Clock Yellow (4) I had planned to change blades today after the issues I had yesterday and then forgot to do it. I remembered right after the first stroke and dreaded what was going to happen. Instead, it was a perfectly fine shave with none of the pulling from yesterday. I'm not totally sure what the difference was- probably more careful technique today combined with some other failure yesterday (lather, perhaps?). Either way, I'll take it. JR
My wife has mentioned that she really really wants to see that show. I'm glad she doesn't read this forum
October 8, 2015 OC October - This month I'll introduce myself to my OCs. Gillette New LC Gillette Goodwill Standard Safety Razor OC Schick Type C1 OC Hot Shower, Morning Shave Soap: Cella Brush: Omega Pro 48 Razor: Gillette New LC Blade: Voskhod (3) Thayers Lemon Witch Hazel Aftershave: Myrsol Blue Two-pass shave (XTG, ATG) Well this razor / blade combo are 3-for-3. I can’t imagine better shaves. This razor has performed better than any so far with this kind of consistency. I really focus on my technique each shave, but sometimes I think I could let this razor go on auto-pilot! Smooth and clean face all the way around, with no irritation. and with the Voskhod blade - THE ABSOLUTE BEST THREE SHAVES OF MY LIFE, REALLY! ( @NCoxSTL I know I’m in good with the Cartel now, but I take nothing for granite!) I may not be posting much for awhile, I'm on an extended trip with my family to Florence! My son lives in central Oregon and will pick him up, and with my daughter (and her puppy) the family will trek our way to the Oregon coast and the little coastal town of Florence! (did I hook you in with thinking of that other, lesser known foreign city in Italy!) Play ball! RT
Day three with This blade is a keeper. Three days of great shaves with no irritation! I understand from posts yesterday that this is probably a German blade and I have no idea how an Indian one would compare. This one is definitely a keeper. Enjoy your trip free from worry about the boys. I'll find someone else for them to deal with. Nice Chris Carpenter card, by the way.
OCtober - Trick or TREET October 8 Razor - RazoRock TTO Blade - (1) Brush - Vie-Long 12061 - The Pony Soap - Tabac Post - Cold water, Alum, The Veg Back to the focus this month. Off we go to the Treet New Steel. This blade has me a bit befuddled as there isn't a lot of information about it, even though there's a lot of information about it. We know, for instance, it claims that its performance is a combination of steel and special coating, and that is't Pakistani made with USA Technology. Direct quote there. But, is it stainless? Carbon? A mixture? Aluminum? Who knows? It looks like a stainless except for some blue sheen in places which could be carbon and, oh forget it. Let's just shave with the stupid thing. I did read on another forum that a few guys really like this blade claiming it's super sharp and super smooth. Let's find out. The RazoRock TTO is up today. Great modern brass razor that is more aggressive than most other TTOs. That might be a good or a bad thing. Lather is provided today by the Pony and Tabac. Fantastic lather, ready to go. I was hooked on the first stroke. Wow. Smooth as silk yet it really got a clean path. Went ahead with the first pass and it was every bit as smooth and effective as some had said. Second pass XTG equally smooth and productive leaving only the neck. I went ahead with a full ATG pass just to check it out and finished BBS. Wow. Hit the alum and found no problems. Double wow. Splashed on the Veg with no burn. Triple wow. This thing is every bit as good as advertised. Now, will it last? I didn't remove it from the razor like I do carbons. Let's let it stay in place like the wrapper says and see if it rusts or not. That may be the tell if there's any carbon involved. But for today, fantastic shave and I have another TREET for the month. Amazing statistic.....eight shaves and not a bad one yet. That has to be a record for me when I'm running through blades. Have a good Thursday everyone. Oh! I forgot the cake yesterday. Sorry about that. Better late than never!
Feather......."America's best blade". Something's rotten with that statement. And "other" blades? We'll have a discussion soon. :ahem:
NEW razors are always nice. Glad you're getting great shaves! So, Florence, huh? Don't forget to enjoy the various piazzas and palazzos! LOL
