Lol I'm sure you do. The Cardinals have been dealing with a bit of hatred the past few years too. We're the National League Yankees. All we do is win and the haters hate. When I moved here 10 years ago I had no idea how big a deal they are here. You soon learn.
Saturday Awesome Have a wonderful wedding day I used the B&M Awesome aftershave from the Maggard's meet up today. It's a very nice floral. I knew quickly that the 7 o'clock blade was done, so I switched to a new Voskhod. I got a very close shave, but a little irritation on my neck this time. It was much more short lived than the smooth feeling. This was a pleasing return to Lavanille. Prep: WSP Matterhorn PSO Soap: B&M Lavanille Brush: HIS Razor: Der Futur Blade: Voskhod (1) AS: B&M Awesome
5/8 Grelot Lotus Soap Commander homemade boar My shave was on the harsh side today but extremely close. I'll take the credit for the harshness because I altered my preshave with both my face and the razor. Ohio walnut for the brush handle, I picked up a hunk when I visited my daughter on vacation. Have a good one.
Saturdays shave. Another day with the shavette. I still don't know what I'm doing but it's fun and the results aren't too bad. Blade - Gillette Silver Blue Brush - Fine Angel hair Aftershave - Old Spice Lather - I Coloniali rhubarb shaving cream
Friday Dove Beauty Cream bar face wash 40's British Gillette Tech "Fat Handle" Rapira Swedish Supersteel (1) blade Bestshave #6 brush Proraso Green shave soap 3 passes WTG/XTG/ATG + touch-up. Proraso Green after shave balm The Green balm is new in my Den. Oh man, it's good! Very nice addition to the soap. Those of you who know me, know I've been on a constant search for a daily kit - The One and Only. This soap and ASB could easily be it! It is what I'll reach for normally. Of course I'll rotate other stuff in from time to time. ----------------------------------------------------------- Saturday Dove Beauty Cream bar face wash 40's British Gillette Tech "Fat Handle" Rapira Swedish Supersteel (2) blade Bestshave #6 brush RazoRock XXX shave soap 3 passes WTG/XTG/ATG + touch-up. Homemade mentholated after shave splash Just got the XXX and I'm very confused about the scent. I was told it was old school barbershop, but apparently I knew/know nothing about old school barbershops! It's a spot on scent to the DR Harris Arlington range. Very nice, very "cold and fresh" scent. Not cold as a menthol product, but "cold" in it's "presence". I like it. Performance is regular RazoRock = Top tier.
I have no Idea how that smells either =P I was curious to get it a while back, but decided that the grapefruit Would be nicer

OCtober - Trick or TREET October 10 Razor - RazoRock TTO Blade - (3) Brush - Omega Pro 48 Soap - TSD Lanolin Bay Rum Post - Cold water, Alum, Nivea Original Day three of the Treet New Steel. Saturdays are so much better now since it's a later start and a shorter day. So plenty of time to get the shave right. I was concerned how the blade would perform today since it seemed to lose a bit between days one and two but, you live and learn, and I found out yesterday's results may not have been blade related. More on that in a second. Used the Pro 48 and TSD Lanolin soap. Great matchup that easily produced a tremendous amount of wonderfully slick lather while face lathering. I also noticed that the Bay Rum scent absolutely fills the room when it's open while waiting for me to shave. Really a great scent and strong enough to enhance the experience before you even lather with it. So, here we go. Set the razor and went for the first stroke and it was very smooth. Seemed better than yesterday, more like the day before. Went ahead with the WTG pass and finished a very smooth pass with great effect. Relathered and went XTG. Still felt smooth and no weepers or other problems. And the final third pass ATG with G-slides on the neck was great, smooth, and injury free. Not sure I've ever had a blade go from great day one to very good day two then back to great day three. I began to rethink yesterday's shave to find reason for the phenomenon and I think I may have to retract my statements that the blade was not performing. I suspect that my focus on the bowl lathered Fat and the whole process of the lather caused a bit of lapse in my technique with the razor. Today with my normal face lather and not trying to set up a scuttle and all that stuff my technique stayed consistent and I got a great shave. Better than yesterday. I think the proof of the fact that it was technique and not the blade that created yesterday's issues is that the blade shows no undue signs of wear, no rust (it apparently is stainless steel...good to know) or other problematic issues. There is some unusual staining on the blade but the pattern suggests that was created from whatever coating they apply to the blade. It clearly didn't have any effect on the blade's performance. So, my final word on the Treet New Steel.....it's a winner in my book. Even yesterday's shave wasn't horrible by a long shot, and now that I recognize the technique issue I have to say the blade seems very consistent. This is one Treet that I will probably keep around for those days when I need some variety. I think this blade outperforms the Treet King and Trig so for now it's on the top of the list for the month. Still a month of TREETS with no tricks. Can it continue? In my den? Seems unlikely but we'll see! For now, though, it's time to celebrate the New Steel by going out to eat!

Here we go - my Sunday shaving plans: Neutrogena Men Facial Wash Large Horsehair Barbershop Super Speed/Derby day 7 Stirling Black Ice SS Lucky Tiger AS Cream Krampert's Frostbite AS Not a bad selection even if I say so myself - the Black Ice soap has such nice lather with a wonderful black liquorice scent and although it's not a big face-freezer like the Glacial Obsidian, there's still more than enough menthol in it to satisfy me. The Lucky Tiger a/s cream is another mentholated treat for me which is so barbershoppy, and it's hard not to love Brian's Frostbite aftershave - gee that stuff's so well named!
