I'm back, and shaved with the above!

    Have a great Sunday!
  2. Welcome home. I hope you and the Lady Samurai had a good trip.
  3. Thanks, and we sure did! Just watched Bama on DVR and also the end of the Noles victory. I like the idea of undefeated FSU in the playoff. Kudos to the Canes though. They are well coached, have great talent and are an asset to ACC ball.
  4. I'm afraid Clemson and Florida will be a tough mountain to climb.
  5. @Bymainer ...Whats the shedding factor like for your Vie Long Horse Hair ? My Omega boar just doesn't shed, maybe one hair a year...I've forgotten that brushes can shed, but then I remember all the brushes I had before, would maybe shed a hair or more a shave..}8^(

Razor – Red & Black New Deluxe 15mm
    Blade – Feather (2)
Brush –Olivewood with TGN Finest Fan
    Lather – TSD Signature
Post - Witch Hazel & Captain’s Choice Bay Rum

Another super close and smooth shave this morning. I am truly enjoying the focus on OC razors since they are easily my favorite DE razors. This razor loaded with a Feather is quickly becoming my vintage razor of choice. TSD signature is very easy to get a great slick and protective lather. Finished with a splash of CC Bay Rum. Hope everyone has a great Sunday.

  11. 30 day focus - Day 11
    Fat Boy set to 7
    Sputnik Blade
MDC Face Lathered with a touch of TOBS Rose
    3 passes

This was a very, very nice shave, almost certainly a BBS. I have figured out how to maneuver the Fat Boy underneath my nose. I didn't think a 1/8" difference in head thickness between the Fat Boy and the Slim Adjustable would make a difference, but it made a large difference that took me some time to get used to. Overall, I wold say that the Fat Boy can give me as good a shave as the Slim, but, in reality, there is very little difference to me between the two.

I have been face lathering this month. Today I tried using hot water instead of cold and it was pleasantly soothing. The hot water also helped bring out the Rose aroma, which I always like.

    OCtober Focus Day 11:

    Homemade PS Oil
    Stirling Synthetic Brush
    TSD Lanolin Iced Sub-zero
    Schick Type C1
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    Aqua Velva AS

My first shave with my new C1, and it was not quite as smooth as the C3 I have shaved with. I think the blade may have been a bit dull, and the angle of attack may also be a bit different. I'll keep at it for the next few days to see how it works.

  16. And just when I was beginning to think we were brothers from another mother. If the Cards don't make it I'm actually hoping for the Mets. Just can't justify the Cubs in the series in my mind. They'd lose the lovable loser quality.
  17. I see that with Osage Rub you get a" vigorosamente para"

  18. I would say low to no shedding. I can't swear one or two didn't come out, but I never find any

  19. OCtober - Trick or TREET
    October 11

Razor - Gillette 1959 Super Speed
    Blade - treet-silversmall.jpg (1)
Brush - Vie Long 12601 The Pony
    Soap - Tabac
Post - Cold water, Alum, The Veg

Next in line for Trick or TREET - A carbon blade. The Treet Silver, which looks like a cross between stainless and carbon. It is 100% carbon steel, though, and I've used it before during Vintage and Carbon in March, if memory serves. However, I can't remember how it performed so it's all new again. The joys of middle age. Got my head shave out of the way while SWMBO jumped in the shower. She's actually been trying Arko and a couple of brushes lately along with her '65 Lady Gillette. Early last week she complained to me that she needed a horse brush with more mane hair. She said the silver handled horse brush with 35/65 was just too rough for her. She has ridden and trained horses so she knows horses so I replied back (we were texting) that I'd look into a 50/50.......wait a minute......the silver handled horse brush? :signs002: One is red, one is tan. The only silver handled brush I have is the Omega Pro 48. When I replied again and said....."that's a boar brush", her reply was, "well it looks like horse". Huh? How in the world does a Pro 48.....well anyway. This morning I handed her the Vie Long 12705 and told her to try that one. She loved it so I've gifted that one to her. I prefer the 12601 anyway and it also opens up the door to buy another horse I've had my eye on.....a 25/75 mix.

Anyway.........I set up the 12601 and Tabac and got a great lather, grabbed the '59 SS and off I went. The first pass with the blade reminded me quickly that it is a good blade. Very smooth, especially for carbon, yet it gives that great audio feedback that I like from carbons. WTG was nice all over, second pass XTG equally good and I finished ATG and Gslide as always and....I'm calling it BBS. Partly on the recommendation of the Mrs. who declared that the smoothest shave she's noticed on me in a few days. So, probably a barely BBS but there you go. Post -shave I dried the razor and lightly dryed the blade, reassembled but didn't tighten the doors down all the way and gave it a quick soak in 91% alcohol. It will remain on my desk to hopefully stay dry and avoid rusting so I can get three attempts without that issue. We'll see.

We're off to St. Louis Pagan Pride today for a bit, then a bit of shopping and home later. Hope your Sunday is a good one! Here's a picture of a horse in honor of my lovely better half!

  20. Thanks! Great trip, but good to be back home. The red eye was brutal. Was able to doze off and on for about 2 hours, but was very uncomfortable. I just can't get any head support, even with a neck pillow. My wife had a hard time sleeping too. Said no more red eye flights for us. Then, the gate wasn't available when we landed, so we sat on the tarmac for about 30 minutes. Slept for a couple of hours once we got home, so starting to feel human again.

I may skip shaving today because I'll be shaving for work about 5:30 tomorrow anyway, and I want to have something to work with.
