It had been a little while since trying out my black handled Canadian Schick "E3" so out it came. Not quite as smooth and easy as my E2s but left me with an excellent close shave. [IMG]

    OCtober - Trick or TREET
    October 11

Razor - Gillette 1959 Super Speed
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
Brush - Vie Long 12601 The Pony
    Soap - Tabac
Post - Cold water, Alum, The Veg

Next in line for Trick or TREET - A carbon blade. The Treet Silver, which looks like a cross between stainless and carbon. It is 100% carbon steel, though, and I've used it before during Vintage and Carbon in March, if memory serves. However, I can't remember how it performed so it's all new again. The joys of middle age. Got my head shave out of the way while SWMBO jumped in the shower. She's actually been trying Arko and a couple of brushes lately along with her '65 Lady Gillette. Early last week she complained to me that she needed a horse brush with more mane hair. She said the silver handled horse brush with 35/65 was just too rough for her. She has ridden and trained horses so she knows horses so I replied back (we were texting) that I'd look into a 50/50.......wait a minute......the silver handled horse brush? :signs002: One is red, one is tan. The only silver handled brush I have is the Omega Pro 48. When I replied again and said....."that's a boar brush", her reply was, "well it looks like horse". Huh? How in the world does a Pro 48.....well anyway. This morning I handed her the Vie Long 12705 and told her to try that one. She loved it so I've gifted that one to her. I prefer the 12601 anyway and it also opens up the door to buy another horse I've had my eye on.....a 25/75 mix.

Anyway.........I set up the 12601 and Tabac and got a great lather, grabbed the '59 SS and off I went. The first pass with the blade reminded me quickly that it is a good blade. Very smooth, especially for carbon, yet it gives that great audio feedback that I like from carbons. WTG was nice all over, second pass XTG equally good and I finished ATG and Gslide as always and....I'm calling it BBS. Partly on the recommendation of the Mrs. who declared that the smoothest shave she's noticed on me in a few days. So, probably a barely BBS but there you go. Post -shave I dried the razor and lightly dryed the blade, reassembled but didn't tighten the doors down all the way and gave it a quick soak in 91% alcohol. It will remain on my desk to hopefully stay dry and avoid rusting so I can get three attempts without that issue. We'll see.

We're off to St. Louis Pagan Pride today for a bit, then a bit of shopping and home later. Hope your Sunday is a good one! Here's a picture of a horse in honor of my lovely better half!

Im not sure, I have read others say that a synthetic does had some kind of "break in". I dont think it breaking in as boar and badger, splitting hairs. I think they get some kind of "wear" and get just a tiny bit better. Like when putting on new pair of pants, they are a tiiiiny bit tight at first but then they kind of adapt to your body =P

    SHAVE OF THE DAY

    RAZOR: GILLETTE BALL END TECH
    BLADE: LORD SUPER STAINLESS
    BRUSH: OMEGA S SYNTHETIC
    SOAP: STIRLING- MITA
POST: WHOLLY KAW JAMESTOWN GENTLEMAN A/S

Had an excellent 3 pass shave this morning. The Stirling whipped up a nice lather and has a nice citrus scent and a good menthol kick. It seems like the more shaves that are on these Lord blades the better they are. This was either the 4th or 5th shave and it was the best shave I have had on this blade. No irritation BBS, couldn't ask for a better shave. Finished up with WK aftershave, I think I like the Fougere Bouquet scent better, but the Jamestown Gentleman has a nice sweet scent and I really like the Wholly Kaw aftershaves. Hope everyone has a great shave and a great day!

Joe, my new RazoRock Plissoft was very stiff for the first 5 uses, it has definitely gotten better over time. I'm now able to get it to splay.

Tonight was a very painful shave.

Prep: hot shower, Nivea Face Wash.
    Brush: Turkish #6.
    Razor: Gillette Old Type.
    Blade: SuperMax Titanium.
    Cream: Mem Olive.
Post: cold water rinse, Mennen Skin Bracer, Myrsol Emulsion.

I'm almost certain it was the lather of the Mem Olive Cream that made this shave so miserable. My neck was pretty beaten up. But the plus side is that this was my first time using Mennen Skin Bracer and so far, I like it. It has plenty of menthol in it, the scent is nice, and it seems to pair well with Myrsol Emulsion when it comes to calming my skin down. I'll put up the Mem Olive for awhile and then come back to it later.
