  1. We have probably been in the same arena at the same time. I went to just about every Channel Cats played when they were there. Channel Cats had one of the greatest logos of all time.

  2. The Champs have been hearing a ton of trash talk from a couple of teams in the league, I think it's going to motivate them for repeat! :sport001:

  5. They were clearly the best team in the NBA last year. Honestly, with the roster the W's have, anything less than a Finals appearance this year will be considered a disappointment. Curry is HOF material, and has enough guns around him that he's unguardable, especially if Thompson is shooting well. Kerr's absence won't matter much...his players have bought in and will run his system regardless of whether he's on the sideline or not.

  6. The old CHL actually was rough and wild like that. Way more fights than the NHL.

  7. I love minor league baseball. Some of my earliest memories are going to Amarillo Gold Sox games in the late 70's and early 80's with my dad. The players used to hit a homerun and then walk around the edge of the stands collecting tips in their hats.

For one season in the early 80's we would go and root for our favorite player known only as Tony. We would really root for him, and I used to try to be like him. We paid him a couple of dollars over that season. A few years later, he was on TV with the Padres. It was Mr. Padre, Tony Gwynn. He was great, and even at my young age (5 or 6 at the time), you could tell he was different than the rest.

With my parents moving to San Antonio, I fully intend to make some of those same type of memories with my son at their local minor league team. In fact, I can't wait for next summer just for that reason.

  8. Thus the old joke, I went to a fight and a hockey game broke out.
  9. So cool. There was a guy on my town's roster like that. He hit the ball farther and harder than all the rest. Around town, he was known as "Parkway Jose", because a well hit HR would leave the stadium and roll onto US 231, known as Memorial Parkway in Huntsville. You know him as Jose Canseco.
  10. I remember when Jose Canseco came up, he was electric. That was when I was really getting into MLB and starting understand the game. Of course, as a Dodgers fan, when the A's and Dodgers met in the 88 series, he terrified me.
  11. Saw McGwire in the minors too. The 88-89 A's had a bunch of ex-Huntsville players on the bench.

  12. Yeah well I could feel that one coming in the second inning. I actually made the avatar last night. Hoped it was way early but, well y'know.

  13. Yep, absolutely one of the best logos ever. And I'm disappointed you didn't come up and say hi at one of the games back then. Sheesh.....how rude. :prrr:

  14. There is actually a minor league team in O'Fallon, MO, about 15 miles from where I live, called the River City Rascals. Needless to say with the Cards literally just over the river the Rascals don't get much press. But there are those who love to take in games there. Cheaper than the big leagues and that great minor league feel.
  15. Definitely on a bad shave streak for the past two days. I'm not really sure what's going on, I switched to a Personna blue today and yielded poor results. Tomorrow I'm going to reevaluate everything I do when shaving. I tried finding glycerin at the pharmacy and couldn't find any. But I think a slicker lather would definitely be beneficial. I'm beat so I won't go into much more detail. I will update tomorrow. If anyone has any tips, it's much appreciated.

Thanks for all the help everyone!
  16. Back in 1980-82 I went to about 50 Oakland A's games a year, back when Billy Martin was the Manager, BillyBall! Boy those were good times! With the creator of The Wave :wave:Krazy George at the Coliseum. I think we paid $5 for a ticket and a hotdog and soft drink. Oh, and a young speedster
    name Rickey Henderson. :scared007:

  17. It may be that time when you need to take a step back, take a breath and grab a blade you know works well and just have a couple of good shaves with it. No pressure, no worries about progress or anything else. Just shave. Kind of a zen shaving moment if that makes sense. Sometimes we get to be our own worst enemies over analyzing when things go wrong. Trust me, been there done that.
