October 14 Focus Shave 10 My plan was to do just passes today but the lather was great, the first 3 passes felt great so I went for it. Did about 2/3 of my 4th pass. No blood and the alum test indicated just very light irritation. Almost BBS, still not 100% there due to my lower neck. I just can't find a way to do the ear to adam's apple pass on the lower neck. Hang in there. When I was learning to use a DE there were ups and downs and sometimes I would hit a bad streak for a few days. One of the hardest habits to break is pressure, when I hit a bad streak it was usually due to pressure. Go slow, no pressure and it you are irritated skip the ATG pass. Don't worry the good shaves will come.
Dang, I missed sport-talk night with the 30DC (30-Day Crew)! ...and on top of that, I'm one game away from changing my avatar again, like that fickle StL fan!
No, fickle would be if I put up another baseball logo. Just moving on in the Lou tonight. Of course there is another logo I like......might be appropriate.....
Back in the days of free flowing libations... While watching a boxing match at college town bar, I witnessed two minor pro hockey players get into fisticuffs. England has rugby and association football. The USA has lacrosse and football. Canada has curling and hockey. Still don't know how hockey seemed like a sound idea, but the winters are long, and the whiskey is pretty good. And Canadian dudes are usually pretty tough no-nonsense guys. Those people up north have beans and beer for breakfast. And some stuff called poutine, which is basically health food like granola, only with more cheese curd and fried potatoes and brown gravy, and way less oatmeal than regular granola. Mostly because no one wants to drink Labatt's off the tap and eat health food. It's also what happens when French cuisine meets good old awful English food ideas. Western Canada, I know you had no part in this. But I know you guys like whiskey, beer and hockey as much as anyone, and those Edmonton teams with Gretzky and Messier were as good as anything Montreal has ever seen. So basically, thank you Canada. With poutine and hockey the world is truly a better place.
These guys are still going...they played in a celebrity hockey this summer in my town. Oh and some guy named Bobby Orr was here too.
After a year of wet shaving, I find I still have some streaks of bad shaves. When it happens, I always try to go back to basics and slow down. It seems it usually comes down to me rushing something a bit. So, I take my time building my lather and get it just right; I like to use a razor and blade combination I have used with success in the past, then I work it slow, watching the angle with lots of care. I focus on no pressure, and short strokes, still maintaining the same angle through the whole stroke. It will often take me twice as long to shave, but it seems to work for me and get me over the hump. It also seems to be when I make a noticeable improvement in my technique over all. Those shaves are also the ones where everything else kinds of waits in the background, and it is just me at the sink enjoying the time that was granted to me.
The new Braves stadium is being built 5 miles from my house in Smyrna, right on my way to work. Not happy with that. Traffic was bad before they started construction, now its worse. I like baseball, I just don't want the stadium traffic to keep me from getting home after work.
10/14/2015 Razor – Wolfman OC with Triad Helix SS Blade – Feather (2) Brush – Romera Olivewood Synthetic Lather – Haslinger Sandalwood Post - Witch Hazel & Captain’s Choice Sandalwood I went with a traditional 3 pass shave this morning and without really trying, I caught the baby which doesn't happen many work mornings. I received this puck of Haslinger Sandalwood as a thank you for a recent purchase. With the synthetic brush, I had no trouble getting a very good slick lather. While it is a sandalwood soap, the scent is so faint it's almost unscented. Finished off with a splash of CC Sandalwood with menthol added. Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.
10/14/15 Gillette Old Type Vulfix Super Badger (660) Proraso Sandalwood cream Aqua Velva Ice Blue Shave #1 with the Rapira Swedish Supersteel in my Old Type. Did face lather again today and got too much water in the brush so the lather was more watery than usual. Should probably have started over again, but I was rushed so I pressed on instead. Did 2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Not nearly as good reduction as I've had the last few days. Pass 2: ATG. This left me just SAS at this point. A cold water rinse followed by a large amount of touch up left me with a BBS shave. The Aqua Velva really yelled a lot today, showing me that I might pay for the BBS with some irritation. Not as comfortable a shave as I've come to expect from the Rapira Swedish Supersteel. It was its first time in the Old Type, I was rushed, and the lather was a little more watery than usual. These things could have contributed to a lesser quality shave. Still it’s a BBS, but with slight irritation. Slight because there were no weepers and no irritated spots at the moment. Hopefully I’ll have more time tomorrow and will end up with a better shave. Everyone have a nice Hump Day! …Hey Mike! What day is it?
When I said Kennesaw in my post I meant to say Marietta (lack of sleep kicking in), but now that you mention it I guess it is in Smyrna. Either way, being outside the perimeter makes it much easier for us folks in North Georgia. Up here we say Atlanta is where they send you when you screw up in hell.
That would be a fair assessment of Atlanta especially where traffic is concerned. I can only imagine how much the new stadium will negatively impact traffic along the I75&I285 corridor.
Well, how was the FB on 8? I found that 7 was out for me. 8 and 9 were too aggressive. What do you think?
