Gillette NEW LC Vulfix Super Badger (660) Proraso Sandalwood cream Georgetown Scuttle G12 Aqua Velva Ice Blue Shave #2 with the Rapira Swedish Supersteel in my New LC. Used the scuttle today for the warmth and also to provide the best lather I could to give this blade a chance to perform better. 2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Pass 2: ATG. Almost a DFS at this point. A cold water rinse followed by a quite a bit of touch up trying to catch the baby. Thought I had it, but he wound up just out of reach. The Aqua Velva was mild today. Another near BBS from the Rapira Swedish Supersteel in my New LC. At this point I'm just not feeling the love for this blade. Seems to take more work than some of my other blades without coming through with a BBS. At least it doesn't chew up my face. I've only had 1 uncomfortable shave with the blade and that was minor and caused by my continuing to chase the baby beyond reasonable limits. Hope everyone has a wonderful Lords Day
SOTD October 18, 2015 Prep: Hot Shower. Axe Energizing Face Wash Boost Razor: Mongoose B3 Dr. Bomber Handle Blade: Feather Professional Lather: Martin de Candre Brush: CK Switchback 400 24mm Duro #2 Synthetic Knot Post: Thayers Cucumber WH. Gold Bond Ultimate Aftershave: PAA FU Fougère Excellent shave!! The Mongoose is my favorite razor. Like that. The Switchback 400 is a sweet brush, has some weight to it. This #2 knot has backbone but is still very soft, I like it a lot. MdC. The best soap on the market. Never let the things you WANT Make you forget the things you HAVE
OCtober Focus Day 17: Homemade PS Oil Simpsons Commodore X3 Best Badger TSD Lanolin Egyptian Spice Gem Micromatic OC Stirling Unscented PSB Old Spice Classic AS Today was the last day I'll use the Micromatic OC this month. It is definitely an aggressive razor, the most aggressive of all my razors, and I would honestly need to devote a full month focus to mastering it. I get decent shaves, but aways some irritation and occasionally a nick or two. The Egyptian Spice was the high light of this morning, though. Have a great Sunday!
10/18/2015 Razor – Gillette Red & Black New Deluxe Blade – Feather (1) Brush –Olivewood with TGN Finest Fan Lather – TSD Signature Scent Post - Witch Hazel & Captain’s Choice Bay Rum Much better shave this morning with the New Deluxe. I got through it with no nicks, weepers or irritation. The TSD Signature Scent was great and pairs very well with CC Bay Rum. Hope everyone has a great Sunday.
30 day focus - Day 18 Fat Boy set to 9 Voskhod Blade MDC Face Lathered 3 passes The Fat boy and my technique have really been coming together over the last few days. Since changing the setting to 9, I have been getting consistent BBS shaves. Late at night I can feel my cheeks and know how well the morning's shave has gone. In fact, I am getting such nice shaves off the Fat Boy, I am seriously wondering whether I prefer the Slim Adjustable or the Fat Boy. And, using MDC makes all shaving easier.
Razor: Gillette Black Tip (X3) 1952 Blade: Voskhod Teflon Coated (6) Brush: Omega 10066 Boar Soap: TSD Iced Old Spice Type A/S: TSD Iced Old Spice Type Day 18 Ice on the bird bath this morning. Excellent combination of great products for a BBS shave. Hope there is some football on today.
Neal, have safe travels. I'm glad you are spending some time with your mom and sis. I hope everything works out OK.

Doug, that's a great photo! Judging from your photos the last few weeks, you live in a beautiful setting. I've noticed some rich fall colors in one or two of the photos as well.
I know the Collection Agency will remind you but, don't forget the interest... :ahem: Without a doubt, the New LC. Five shaves - five flawless shaves, with two different blades (7 o'clock Blue, Voskhod). Easy to find cutting angle, nice weight. Everything adds up to a trouble free shave with no irritation. Using a solid focus, proper technique, good support products and NO rushing - I believe this razor and blade combo can deliver BBS on every shave! (YMMV, of course.) As I look ahead, I'm keen to take my individual favorite from Adjustable August, SE September and OC October and spend a month with each to really work on individual technique for an extended time. Thanks for making me slow down to consider such things my friend! Cheers! RT
With all the great reports about Russian DE blades, I'm considering trying one myself this week. The brand is Перо . I'll keep you all updated.
October 18, 2015 Dear Brothers of the 30DC, I broke my 30-day Focus on OCs today. I know you all have your pet peeves with the USPS, but yesterday a miracle occurred that landed a Mongoose in my mailbox. (sorry @Herm2502 If you think this happens to be yours, please contact the USPS or the manufacturer. I cannot be held responsible in any forum or court of law.) But 30DC brothers, I will return to my Focus immediately on Monday, so forgive me this one moment of weakness. (full disclosure - @RaZorBurn123 pushed me to do this NOW!) Hot Shower Soap: TSD Unscented Brush: Omega 31025 Scarlatti Boar Razor: Mongoose (Batch 3) Blade: Feather Pro Guard TSD Witch Hazel Aftershave: TSD Aqua di Gio Smooth. I can't think of a better way to describe the experience. I've only been traditional wetshaving for 6 months, using only vintage razors - DEs, SEs, injectors, etc. This was my first 'modern' razor. Everyone talks about the weight, so I knew to expect it. The head is unique and I used advice from @clint64 to approach the angle like an injector. Also used his advice for well-hydrated lather. It all fell neatly together - a smooth stroke - a razor this heavy demands no pressure. It seems to let you know that your hand is just there to guide it and set the angle, angle - finding it is about like using an injector - you start with its angled face against yours and tip the handle from there as needed, glide - as advised, I had no issue using a slightly thinner lather than I usual use and had no glide/cushion issues at all. With a two-day growth, I chose a three-pass shave. I think I could have just used two passes (XTG/ATG) but I wanted to extend the shave and get more feel for the razor. The result was as good or better than any first shave with any other razor I've used. Of all the razors I've used, the Gillette New LC is as close as I've come to a favorite razor. The handful of shaves I've had with it have been near flawless. The Mongoose, after one shave, demands its place alongside the New and a lot more time from me to realize it's full potential. I intend to do a 30-Day Focus on it in November. Smooth - the design, the process, the shave and my face! Play Ball! RT
