So as I am new to wet shaving. I want to try different razors. Kind of like a kid in a candy store. I have a few Gillettes and 2 Schick razors an E2 and an adjustable Schick. Both by the way shave great.
I am wondering about trying a SE. So the million dollar question. What would a good SE razor to buy to try SE shaving out? I know YMMV on these questions. I do not have a heavy beard and I do not seem to have a sensitive face. Do not want to drop much money on one. So a suggestion on a fair price on razor suggestions would be great. I will be going thrift store and garage sale shopping this weekend. I may buy of the bay if you guys have some suggestions.
    Thanks in advance
    Tom

Nice long relaxing shave yesterday evening before I went to the boozer for the last hour and half opening time...I always use a new blade in the Louis as I enjoy this razor with a sharp blade...These old French Hoe SEs are ever so smooth and luxurious to use...My face ended up as smooth as silk...I love this razor...One of my favoured SEs...Good Karma..;)

Another fantastic shave with my PAL Injecto Matic - unbelievable - even my wife said, "Wow, I can't believe how smooth that is!" Of course, then she said, "Does this mean you can stop buying razors now?"

Another fantastic shave with the Schick B2 loaded with a Plat Plus blade. So far this is the only razor that I've liked using this blade. Maybe because it is a milder razor than my Type F and Canadian Type E ?? all I do know is three days in a row I have managed BBS without a hint of irritation.
Im glad I found this gem of a razor. I can continue with OCtober and get back to using an Injector razor again.

I picked up this old B1 injector today. When it gets here I'll clean it up and give a try. RAD strikes again!

Tough question. A sort of standard answer is to get a GEM or Ever Ready 1912. They are generally considered middle of the road in terms of aggression and can be a good place to get your basic SE technique working. If you want to go more aggressive the GEM Clog-Pruf Micromatic would be another choice. Different technique with the CPMM - hardly any angle at all. Both of these are easy to find on the bay and elsewhere. :happy088:

Ive got a B1 on route to me that looks to be in similar condition. I found the older the razor the better they clean up. Better quality plating back then I think ;)

The Gbar works well for me, probably the milder choice, sort of like the Tech of the SE world but a very effective shaver.

My wife has similar delusions. Sometimes women just can't understand.

I decided to try out a Personna blade in a G Type Schick today. My G5 had not been used before and I loaded it up with one. They are noticeably different than the Schicks I'm used to. Maybe a little tuggy at first? But, it didn't take long for them (or me more likely) to settle in. I think they upped the aggression a half notch and the Alum block agreed. However, I ended up with a very nice shave that was worthy of a repeat. :happy088:

Nice one...I like a Personna blade in my G Type...The only injector that I use them in...I find the G Type too mild with the Chick blade...If you want it Turbo Charged then stick in a cut down Feather Pro Blade...Now we are Cooking with Gas...:kar:

The Schick Plat Plus blade gave up the ghost mid shave on its fourth shave. I don't recall a schick blade dying this quickly before. A quick change to a new Plat Plus and all was good.

Note* The straight was used for the second pass as Im just beginning that journey.

I get about the same with a Schick Plat blade in the Repeater...I reckon it could be due to the steeper shaving angle with them...Not sure...Bearing in mind the original blades were a lot thicker and there is no blade stops...;)

Easy one.....the GEM, Ever Ready or Star 1912s are kind of the classic starting place for SEs...and everyone seems to love them....This is mine on a box of Williams Mug Soap....Many have other favorites and you have to try different ones to find yours, but most everyone seems to come together on their affection towards the 1912...
