Gearing up for No Variation November so I decided to do some experimentation with new products and get that out of my system for now.

Extremely surprised - one of the smoothest, efficient and automatic shaves that I’ve had in my 6 months of wetshaving.

    Two-pass shave.
    Observations:
    • Damp, cold weather has started to move into Seattle. I’ll appreciate using the scuttle for the next 5 - 6 months! Warm lather…mmmmmm.
    • Never thought I’d use a product called Nancy Boy. (“Not that there’s anything wrong with that.”) OMG - exquisite lather!
    • Along that same line…I don’t know if it’s because of his influential songwriting skills or what, but I pulled out a Feather blade for my very first time. Oh my, oh my! @wristwatchb
With my favorite razor to date, I just slipped right into the sweet spot and more than once, checked to see if I even had a blade in the razor. That smooth. Good reduction on the 1st pass (XTG) and a clean pass (ATG) with nary a touch-up.

The word came to mind immediately after my shave - Effortless!
    Cheers!

  3. I see you are smitten with New LC. There are several of us here that feel the same way.

  4. Count me in on the New LC as well. I do prefer the Old Style though by just a bit. The extra aggression over the New appeals to me.

  5. I almost passed on the Mongoose after I experienced a week of great shaves with the LC. I could live with just the LC if I had to. But decided I should at least try the Mongoose as I expect I'd get my investment back on a resale if it's not for me.

But yes, the LC and I have found a groove.

  6. Just to prove the YMMV. I gave away an Old Style because I thought it was too mild.

  8. I think the Mongoose with any blade other than the Super Pro shaves a lot like a LC but smoother. I will be interested in your thoughts.

  9. I'm considering it for my No Variation November.

  11. I did a 30 Rule in January followed by a Focus in February with the Mongoose. It really helped me nail it down. The most important thing I have found is the Mongoose works best with a slicker thinner lather.

  12. Thanks for the tip.

I've had my initial shave with the Feather Pro Guard, which was just fine. So I think I will just go with that blade for the NOVember Rule...unless you think of a reason to use a different one. I did the Tryablade thing for all of the Mongoose blades.

  13. Captains choice north. Got a sample last time I ordered. Great mild pine scent. I think you might enjoy it. I'm a fan of their aftershave splash....a balm coming to their line soon too.

  14. You're first on the list my friend. :eatdrink047:

(apologies if the call never comes!) :pri:
  15. Awesome! You know it's not really worth the trouble to try it. I'm happy to provide it a shelf to sit on where it will never be used. I mean, just trying to do you a solid.
  16. I knew I could count on you no matter what! :happy036:
  17. I can tell no difference between the Feather Pro Guard and the Regular Feather Pro in the Mongoose. I would figure you'll need to change the blade at least once a week or so.

  18. That helps Clint. I know YMMV, of course...But

I think I will try the Regular Feather Pro tomorrow. If it works I'll start with that in November and order a couple more to last the month.

Is that your regular Mongoose blade?
wmbjr, Drygulch, Bama Samurai and 4 others like this.
  19. Yes, the Regular Feather for normal shaves and the Super when I want a spooky close shave. :D
  20. Thanks for the advice (warning!). :scared003:
