Torrey made very good razors (as a rule). You get that razor honed up good and I think you'll be surprised. Mine will shave with anything I own. It doesn't look like that razor has seen a hone for quite awhile.

Wicked sharp blade this morning, extra light touch and a very nice smooth, close shave. I didn't much care for this brush but it was my first time with it. It was a face feel thing with me but I bought it to tinker with so.... I did like the S10065 though. Have a good one.

This is an eBay razor that was very dull, I didn’t have time to clean it up, but I did a little work on it today. I set the bevel with a Naniwia 1k water stone. It took over an hour, but finally it started to cut arm hair. Looking at the edge under magnification showed that there were no chips, and the bevel was even. I moved on to four different natural stones, then Chromium Oxide on a linen strop, them 40 laps on my linen strop and 100 laps on oiled latigo. It wasn’t quite as smooth as edges more experienced honers have created for me, but I am pretty happy with it. It took off a half inch long goatee in one pass. Was awesome!!!

I have learned a lot honing and have a heck of a lot more to learn. What I have found interesting and yet puzzling is on some razors they just pop so easy and on others it seems like it takes a very long time to get the bevel set. I have had it happen 4-5 times where I thought I had it nailed and it did not shave to suit me then I go back and hone again and sometimes again and all of a sudden it just pops just when I was ready to give up
