1. Also in the mailbox: a cased Gillette Slim.
The blade case is not the correct one but I like these old 'Gold Bond' cases and I think I got a correct blade case to put in it.
The actual razor was nicer than I thought it would be - actually very nice - but it will have to give up its home as it will house my birthyear Slim :)

  2. Even though I am on a Shave Gear Sabbatical for 2015, for my birthday I went on EBay and made a low ball bid on this nice pre-war fat handle tech. I won. It came in today and looks even better in person.

  3. Regardless of what the lowball offer was it sure looks like you ended up with a sweet looking Tech
  4. @Darkbulb, your posts make me want to go shopping online. I am envious of the Stahlys. I have one but it had a nonworking handle. I currently have no funds to further my ADs so I'm living vicariously through this thread.

    Very nice looking tech.

  6. Put that Stahly head on another handle and shave with it. They are great shavers.
  7. I personally didn't like the shave I shaved with it but my fiance uses it with the original big monster handle because she likes the chunkyness of it and the way the end knobs out. She says it feels very secure in her hand. I would like to try a working handle at least once with it but its not going to become a regular shaver for me. I have too many other great razors.

I thought it was just so-so with the stock handle, it became exceptional+ when used with a mr5 handle. remarkably better.
  9. I don't have very many handles to pick from. A ball end tech handle, a ball end old type handle, a short ball end decolette handle and, a plastic Gillette Sterling handle. I used the tech handle for my shave. Some day I'll get an upgraded handle or 2. Maybe I can improve the performance of some of my razors.

Ever Ready 550L. I've not been buying brushes lately, but I love the look, and the potential, of this one.

Finally, the first, and best, find of the day: the Gillette Promotional Mug in great shape. Do I leave it on a shelf, or use it for coffee?

  13. How would you sterilize a brush? Steam?
  14. The only fish you can catch, skin, and tie flies with the feathers to catch more fish.
  15. That brush has lots of potential. I wouldn't have passed on it either. Nice finds.

  18. And sunlight. Leave it out on a sunny day...the ultraviolet light should help to sterilize it as well.
