Wild weekend, huh? You should have changed your shirt for work today, though. Enjoy the World Series, and I hope the home team takes it.
I had a similar experience. The water where I live is moderately hard. My Bride and I recently took a trip to the Florida panhandle where the water is much softer. The soft water made a noticeable difference in the quality of my lather.
Adam, I'm sorry you had a rough shave. Hopefully, you pinpointed the lather as the problem. It's not a true comparison with a straight, but my first pass with my Feather AC is always WTG no matter how smooth I am from the previous shave. I don't think I would survive an ATG first pass even with only a day's growth. The watch and ring combo look cool.
26 October 2015 30 Days with a Gillette Fat Boy Menthol Monday Style The days work is done, and I am really looking forward to this all menthol setup! Proraso Green is a top performer, and I really enjoy the eucalyptus and menthol scent, slick lather and great skincare. Will finish with TSD ISZ under Osage, it's the super cold feel that's hard to beat. Osage will also be tonight's hair tonic. Fall breezes and orange leaves! Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado. Have a terrific Tuesday!
Razor: Gillette Red Tip (A3) 1955 Blade: Gillette Platinum (7) Brush: Black Badger Wood Handle (Grandfather's) Whipped Dog 20/65 Cream: Nivea Bowl: Yokohama Studio A/S: Aqua Velva Ice Blue Day 26 Busy day. Good shave tonight. The Gillette Platinum blade made it through the week and still made for a DFS. New to the Nivea cream, and it worked very well. Aqua Velva Ice Blue is still a great A/S.
You can ask them, but I didn't see the head by itself on their website. I'd like to get one of these razors too. Hopefully this year. They offer a 2 piece handle in their travel kit that adds some length and extra weight, but it also adds $10 to the cost. These seem pretty reasonably priced to me, but I can understand going for the head alone since you already have the handle.
October 27 New LC Feather (2) Semogue 830 Trumper's Coconut Two passes Thayer's Lavender witch hazel, unrefined shea butter, and Fine Platinum I plan to finish OCtober with the matching handle and head on the New LC. Have a terrific Tuesday!
OCtober 30 Day Focus -- Cadet Open Comb October 25 Razor – Cadet Open Comb Blade – PolSilver Super Iridium Brush – VDH Boar Soap – Tabac Post - Cold Water Splash, Witch hazel m-bombed, TSD ISZ The Tabac was amazingly better than the Arko for me! Great lather and great slickness. Like the Arko I face lathered and it worked great. Unfortunately I chose poorly on the blade this time. The Super iridium just was not smooth at all. First pass went OK but it felt like it was struggling to cut and the end result bore that out. It did not do a good reduction for my first pass. Second pass was definitely rougher than usual. Ended with a DFS- shave that in terms of appearance was more than acceptable. Unfortunately I also ended with a couple weepers and some definite redness and irritation. I made certain on technique after the first pass. As a result this blade is getting the heave after one shave. Just not worth doing another with it. Going back to some of my favorites for tomorrow's shave. GSB and Stirling Gin and Tonic. I owe it to my face to give it a nice comfortable shave.
October 26 Focus Shave 17 Lather was exception and the first passes felt good but irritating, On the fourth passes and it seemed to be going well so I tried to take it farther and gave my self a small cut. Applied the alum and almost no irritation, that was a relief because I thought I would have some irritation. Very close and almost BBS but for a few spots so I can call it BBS, but oh so close. Irritation A-, closeness A-. Proraso sensitive pre-shave 'Etsy' silver tip LASS Fougére Hart Steel 6/8 Round Point SRD strop Speick AS Edwin Jagger ASB Dior Patchouli Impérial
Thanks for the info. Haven't had time to check out timely website yet. It not real "viewable" on a phone. I'll check with them. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?
Guys, I may have found the perfect combo. Phoenix DOC, Feather, and Shave den lanolin. I keep producing incredible shaves effortlessly. Taking my only around 10 minutes for a DFS+. I can't wait to get ahold of some shave den soaps. I absolutely love them.
Thank you! I definitely liked the Tabac and it will be travelling with me. Looking forward to getting the La Toja to give it a try as well.
Eventually, laziness (disguised as efficiency) ruled the day, and I dispensed with the bowl altogether. Shave sticks are my super fave!
