B-3 Mongoose with Triad Ti Helix
    Feather Pro #2
    Doug Korn Blue Omega Boar
La Savonniere Du Moulin 30% SS
    Myrsol Metilsol Aftershave

Two terrific passes with the Mongoose today = one outstanding BBS shave. I forgot how much easier daily shaving is than EOD. It’s more fun too! The DK Boar was Kickin’ the Asses Milk Soap. The switch to the Shave Stick Format also has generated way more lather for these soaps. I’m enjoying the face lathering too. Myrsol Metilsol is a excellent alternative to the alum block, better skin care and smells better too. Ended todays shave with a big splash of Fine Fresh Vetiver.
Hope you all had a good one today!

  2. worked on my rolls blade some with a pasted board so when it came time to shave I used it for my first pass. Still needs a little work. It did fine I cheeks and neck but tugged some on the thicker hair of the goatee area.

I lathered up proraso green croap with my WD synthetic brush. I used cold water to shave today and it made it really chilly. Last day on the Bic blade today. The first 2 days were kinda rough but today was very smooth. I managed a BBS and amazingly the clubman barely tingled afterward. Tho is only my 2nd BBS on the triangle hole ball end tech. And the first without significant pain and redness.

tomorrow I'm loading a feather and calling it quits after that blade. I'm not happy with this razor overall. I'm sure I could learn consistency with it but I get much easier shaves from my other razors so I'm not going to bother. If I have a chance I'll try a post war tech to see if the triangle hole is any different but this ones days are numbered.

  6. OCtober 30 Day Focus -- Cadet Open Comb

    October 28

    Razor – Cadet Open Comb
    Blade – GSB
    Brush – VDH Boar
Soap – Stirling Gin and Tonic
Post - Cold Water Splash, Witch hazel, Clubman

Ahhhh it is so nice to shave with a combination that just works. The Cadet and the GSB running on top of Stirling lather were all just meant to be together! I decided to give it a few days to let my face recover from the massive irritation from the PolSilver SI blade. Today's shave, my typical 2 pass--WTG face, XTG neck first pass and ATG everywhere second--worked wonderfully! No irritation. The Clubman hardly made a sound! I ended up DFS+ It is a shave that a month or two ago I probably would have chased the baby because it was sooooo close. Today I was perfectly satisfied to enjoy what I got, enjoy the lack of irritation, and still have a really nice shave!
  7. That's my fave looking shave bowl ever! Love the way the cobalt glass casts blue light on the razor, it looks cool!

  8. Just stick with it and the baby will show up more often than you expect! Nice work.

  9. I found that Bic is better on day 2, day 1 strops the blade on your face! Life's too short to struggle on a razor that's not quite right!

  10. So nice of them to think of us wet shave guys! The Q-tips were obviously a place holder. Have a safe trip!

  11. Is that soap sandalwood also?
  12. Today, in honor of @wristwatchb , I will be using a Feather blade (black label)!

  13. It seems that riding the cap is a generalized technique that can be used to tame aggressive razors.,I am starting to feel that the 30-35 degrees that is shaving orthodoxy is wrong. IMHO, 15-20 provides a more comfortable experience, free of scraping. The Rapira cap seems especially shallow on the curves, definitely a cap to be ridden!

  14. It's really hard to determine fair market value of collectible razors. The markets really move on fads and whims, and seems to be disconnected from normal economic forces.

  15. Thank you!

Mrs.F has thoughts that I've lost it :whacky011:- by creating that "shrine" as she calls it.
But I remind her that the last time my hometeam won the Series was the year she and I married - 29 years ago.
So she'll accept my quirk as a passion and let me bask in it (for a week)! :ahem:

Now as for the last OC on my list this month - the Goodwill.
I read your assessment of the head difference between it and the Tech. I know it was a lousy photo I sent to compare the two,
but I think I can see upclose that the Goodwill has a bit of a steeper arc to it.

Regardless, it just got me back to thinking about exaggerating my cap riding.
I did that this morning and the shave was as good or better than my first two shaves with the Goodwill - smoother with less feedback, but no efficiency loss.
So with two or three more shaves left, I'll experiment further. Nonetheless I have been getting very good shaves with it.
I'm reminded of another lesson learned, that one needs more than a week with a razor to fully realize its potential.

    Thanks Chief! :happy088:
  17. Hopefully a smoking...er...shaving jacket?

  18. If you look at your photo of the GW top, RT, you can see that the top is skewed a bit to one side. That's what I was talking about when I said I had a problem with alignment. I can never get the top straight. I have a GW now that I've been playing with. I'm afraid I'll hurt myself.

Then again, maybe it's just me.

  19. Good observation Herm!
No, I don't think it's just you. But I'll take a closer look tonight when I put a new blade in for tomorrow's shave. You may be on to something, but it must be ever so slight because I'm not experiencing extreme problems...just the difference between a VG shave and an excellent one. Thanks!
  20. Yes it's sandalwood. It has a very good scent very similar to AOS sandalwood cream and pairs really well with the CC sandalwood AS.
