  1. If you want to be the one who goes into town to look things over and get whacked in the back of the head every week, sure.

  2. Hi Chris. I don't stretch much with a safety razor. I used to when I started DE shaving, but now I usually just tilt my head, make funny faces and puff my cheeks. I just sightly pull down the skin on my neck when I go ATG there. Oh - and I bend my nosetip to the left and to the richt so that I can shave the hard-to-reach area right under the nose properly. ;)

I usually don't experience any skin irritations, razorburn or problems like ingrown hair at all. In this current case a small area at my right jawline broke out in pimples - I think it MIGHT be an allergic reaction to a soap sample I tried a few days ago. Though in that case - shouldn't there be a reaction all over my face? The other possibillity: bad handling of a brand new combination of razor and blade (Phoenix DOC and Feather) last week. I find myself using too much pressure with a very mild razor sometimes.

because i get to use my favorite word as much as I'd like - "Kemosabe!"

  5. Supposedly kemosabe was taken from an Ojibwa word giimoozaabi which means He who secretly peeks. So I guess Tonto is calling the Lone Ranger a Peeping Tom.

  6. Hi! You've been doing some great write ups of your daily experiences! If it's soap, we all know that will resolve itself. A technique I have used to great effect on the jawline is an upward stretch. Placing the off hand on my cheekbone, I pull the skin upward until it is taut. The moves the skin that normally rests on the curved edge of the outer jaw up on to the flat of the jawbone, making shaving a breeze. We are using essentially the same razor head (see photo), and I agree it's quite mild versus a wide open Fat Boy or the aggressive Schick type G that I used recently. The Utopia razor handle is >100g, yet I still feel the urge to really "get on top" of the razor and apply pressure.

  7. that's odd. my source* shows that "Kemosabe" means - rear end of a horse!

  8. I would guess "He who secretly peeks" is a reference to the unsurpassed ability of Navajo and Sioux cavalry, in the old American west, to conduct forward battle space reconnaissance without engaging the enemy. Their service both for and against the US Army cavalry made them living legends.

    ETA: Apache too!!!

  15. Hey - I feel honored being the first :) And I love the atmosphere (is that the correct term or is it "feel"?) here at TSD. You're a great bunch of people and I'm glad I have found this den.

BTW: This is the thread that brought me here in the first place (I was looking for information on my newly acquired Rocket HD):

I guess it's one of the reference points for collectors all over the world.
  16. Thank you! Atmosphere is correct! I became interested in TSD much the same way. I entered the for info on shaving soaps, and I never left. TSD is an amazing virtual gathering of truly passionate people. We are all very glad you chose to create an account and join the forum.

  20. They did great. This was the district honors chorus so he sang in the 8th grade men's choir. I don't have the video, and probably for legal reasons couldn't upload it, but they made a big hit by finishing with this song I thought somewhat linked to this forum.
