I have an old E Type Schick that I used one of those Chinese Schicks in, and I didn't like it. It skipped and gouged me. I didn't have a very good experience. I'll see how I like the Ted Pella's. Hopefully, they will work well for me. Thanks again Billy!

That's an interesting one Sir...Some of the E Types have a reputation for biting and that's the nature of them...That's where they get their aggressive reputation from...Again these things are all personal but I find that some Type E s are more likely to dig in and gouge you with a Personna/Pella blade...The Type E injectors are harder to use for that reason...They can take a moment to master Sir...

Hopefully the skipping and gouging isn't from a worn blade stop or the blade loading over one of them. I had that happen recently with a PAL Injecto Matic and my face paid a huge price. I got a replacement PAL and it is now my favorite razor.

I had a shave today with a Feather Pro Blade for the first time in my PAL Adjustable ...I was a bit apprehensive at first cause this is quite an aggressive injector so I used it on the middle setting for the first 2 passes....I was surprised at how forgiving the Pro blade was in this injector compared to the G Type on this setting...Anybody that has used this adjustable will know how subtle the angle is and this actually helps somewhat with a crazy sharp blade as you cant go too steep with it...I turned up the volume to the 3 quarter setting for my final pass and here was a different story as the Pro blade suddenly became more wicked but with a light touch there was no problem as long as I was on my toes so to speak...Going for 3 passes on the 3 quarter setting as usual with a Chick blade would be too much with this combo...I ended up with a Fantastic all over BBS result and my skin is as smooth as silk...I like the particular smooth - smooth finish the Pro blade achieves ... Not even a hint of any irritation ....I am again impressed with these blades and I am happy that I lived to tell a bloodless & or nick free tale as these blades are crazy sharp and this is an awesome injector blade combo...SMOOTH & SMOOTH Folks...

Congrats on living to tell the tale! Sounds like this may be your new default on the PAL adjustable.

I came back to the Executive today. The sweet spot is getting easier to find and keep and the shave continues to improve. Very nice, very smooth, and very close shave today with just slightly more touch up than usual.

It sure does deliver a very smooth shave in the PAL Adjustable although I do prefer the Pro Blade in the Schick G Type so far...The PAL Injectomatic is going to be my next test drive with them...Probably blow me out the window...

The more that you use the Executive the more you will get used to that Sweet Spot Sir...This is the Hall Mark of Personna & PAL Injectors that were made by the American Safety Razor Company & subsidiary Companies ...The PAL Adjustable is the same in terms of a definitive sweet spot and so is the Personna Floating Head 11 Injector....The PAL Injectomatic is the exception to the rule in my experience and far more intuitive to use...

Does this razor qualify under this thread?

I just obtained this razor and will be spending the entire month with this setup to get a good technique developed with it. I'll post my daily shave with it this month on the 30-day thread and the No Variation November thread.

I shaved on Monday with a three-day growth and then again today.

Initial impressions:

Razor - having only used vintage DEs, SEs and injectors, the Mongoose feels brick heavy and looks the size of one as well as I place it up to my face. It seems to demand one use no pressure, using your hand to just steer the beast. The ATG pass takes getting used to as one must pull the weight of the mongoose upward. I initially tend to "choke up" on the handle as I do an upward stroke. My stroke count and pattern appears to change slightly due to the width of the cutting head. Even though it is wider, it may actually help in my approach to trouble spots on jawline and neck. The shave angle appears to be found almost naturally by design.

Blade - the Feather Pro is sharp and smooth. The razor/blade combo just sliced throughout my three-day growth with no problem. By far the best first-pass reduction that I've experienced.

It will take time to figure the best attack angle around my mustache and goatee/patch. A few weepers developed there today. But with just two shaves, I'm drawing a quick conclusion that once consistent, good technique is achieved with this razor, BBS shaves should become an every day occurrence. (Just like today!)

I just watched the end of an Ebay auction for an F type. It went crazy the last 10 seconds. Super cool looking razors. That will be one for my wish list.

Ok Billy. I have loved the look and the brand of the PAL and finally came across one on the bay for $20.00 shipped. It looks like it is in decent condition. Are there any specific things to look for? It looks like the handle could be ruffed up a little, but overall good.

I was watching as well to see what mine was actually worth. Guys here have told me how coveted they are but this was the first Ive seen sell on the Bay.

Third day in a row with the Type F was pleasurable again. Three passes wtg resulted in a decent DFS with no irritation. Ive been using Schick Plat Plus blades because I ran out of Chicks and waiting for my order to arrive. The blades are ok but dont last more than three shaves. The Chicks last 7-10 shaves for me.

One went a month or so ago as well - $105.00 for that one. So, whenever you are ready to sell yours, just let me know!

I see me selling my FatBoy, Slim and Aristocrats way before that......

I guess I need to find some buyers for those Gillettes to help you out.

The main thing that can be knackered in them is the adjustment mechanism and its hard to tell by looking at them....As a rule of thumb go for the Newest Looking one you can get your hands on....The biggest mistake that folks make here is to try and get one on the cheap....Another thing is that folks think that they are knackered when they are not as the mechanism can seem loose when its on the highest setting and this is fine ...That is because the tension is off the spring on the highest setting....The PAL Adjustable works the apposite to all other adjustables....In other words the spring is cranked up on the lowest setting & cranked off on the highest...This can confuse the hell out of folks...PM me the listing if you want Sir..
