Bought this last nite for $10. Now I'm wondering if I just burned the money or got a decent deal. Looks to me to be a New Bostonian, but likely I'm wrong. Any ideas? Also I have no idea if it's long comb or short comb, and how you tell.

I can't imagine why you think you got burned. The blade case is worth more than $10. Yes the case is rough, but if the teeth are straight, you have an excellent vintage razor. Clean it up and enjoy!

From other pictures I have that I didn't post all the teeth appear to be straight, the only unknown is the handle. I understand they are prone to cracking, and the condition of the handle wasn't mentioned in the description.

Also, these New long combs give great shaves. At $10, that's a great buy. You did well.

You did good. The case is from the 50s I think, but the razor is an excellent find at $10.

You did good for $10 , Gillette called one of the 1930s Common Bar Handle NEW sets Bostonian, your set does look a lot like this , the set below may be a short comb (hard to tell from this pic) and your razor looks to be a long comb .Nice find

I've gotten some of my best shaves from a new.

Well, my New finally arrived, and in surprisingly good condition, albeit quite dirty. It appears that the previous owner finished his last shave with it, cased it, and that was that. Even came with a free blade lol. Well I got it cleaned up and I guess it looks decent.

Now I'll see how it shaves

It looks good. Especially for a $10 razor. I've been trying to get a good deal in one, but I keep getting outbid.
