  1. For myself, I will call this month "Science Month", as I will be "experimenting" with my shave paraphernalia so as to avoid having a foam/A.S. combo that cancels each other out. I will update you guys as things develop. :)
  2. That's my focus for this month(see above). That is, except for when I go with my Rise double-header.
  3. I'm about to shave but the kids have killed the hot water with baths so cold water it is.

  6. Ah it's nice to see that put in writing. Even though I've been at it a shorter time I sometimes feel like I'm just spinning my wheels trying to acquire stuff for......well really I'm not sure sometimes. I think my tendency is to see something totally awesome, cool, shiny, whatever, and want to be in that "club" of owners. Yet, it sits and grows mold. I think the thrill of the hunt is part of the process (which is why I went to an antique store today) and there are a few pieces that I would truly love to own and use and have as part of my working collection. I think, though, I'm starting to see things in a bit more of a minimalist style - what setups work and do I want to use on a constant basis? Go with those and don't let the urge to hoard get to me!

I'm lucky in a way because soaps really haven't been an issue for me. I've tried a lot and have never had the urge to fill a cabinet with soaps and creams. MWF and Tabac are my top two and I don't see myself going crazy outside of those. Brushes? Horses, plus the Wolf Whiskers because it is truly unique. Of course a good boar brush is essential to me, but again, no need to buy 100 brushes to have every grade of badger etc. Just never caught my attention.

Now, should I finally take the step into the dark side of straights and kamisoris....all bets may be off! But for now I'm sailing along pretty smoothly.

  7. Maybe instead of the kids killing the hot water you should kill.......................uh...................ok so I won't go there. Mine lived to adulthood, why shouldn't yours?
  8. You just described me. I have plenty of soaps to last me for years, so I think I am done for a while. I wouldn't mind trying out MdC just to see if the soap lives up to the hype, but I am planning on staying with what I have for a while. Razors are the same, I have more than I can really use, so I have a few I plan on PIFing at some point so that someone else can enjoy them.

It was fun collecting all this stuff, though. I even found some enjoyment using eBay. And I definitely found some antique stores that are fun to browse, so there has been some bonus to this process. :)

  9. I'm the same. It has been good to sell some of the razors that I never use although I did pick up a few others.

I prepped well, took my time, and enjoyed another really good shave this evening. No boo boos for the second night in a row, even though I used a fresh blade. I completed WTG and XTG/ATG passes, resulting in a DFS+ shave with an A- on irritation. My cheeks approach BBS, and my neck is DFS. I'm sure a third pass would yield BBS results, at the risk of getting some irritation. Two passes are good enough!

I could hardly feel the alum, which indicates that I'm using a lighter touch. I continue to take baby steps in the areas above and below my mouth using careful ATG and XTG strokes combined with plenty of skin stretching. With much work and focus, I can get these areas fairly smooth. I'm using way too many strokes, so I need to continue to work on technique. There's no doubt the Feather AC requires great focus, but it helps me improve my overall shaving skills.

I finished with some Alt Innsbruck. It's a light, classy mentholated tobacco scent, and it's one of my favorite after shaves.

I hope everyone has a great week!
