My husband has been steadily falling further and further down the rabbit hole of wet shaving. For Father's Day we gifted him some Trufitt & Hill 1805 aftershave and shave cream, and we both really like the scent, but it is pricier than he likes for everyday use. Unfortunately, his every day aftershave (Clubman) literally brings me to tears; I get a major sick headache from it. I also strongly (but not painfully so) dislike Old Spice and similar scents so he asked me to hunt up some inexpensive alternatives. I'd love to find something that evokes the barbershop feel that he likes that won't kill my nose and my head. I'm know he and I could agree on a more fresh or marine or green fragrance but he always comes back to stuff that gets referred to as barbershop scents. I also like the idea of supporting someone like JoAnna, so any tips for the TSD splash scents would be awesome. I'm totally open to other suggestions, though. $15 and under would be ideal, $5 and under would be amazing. Thank you!
You already mentioned where I was going to suggest - TSD! JoAnna's stuff is top shelf. As scents are soooo personal, I would recommend a read down through the scent descriptions ---> http://www.theshavedenshop.com/index.php?_a=document&doc_id=6
Do you like the scents of brut or aqua velva? Those are other classics. Why not try the Barbershoppe scent from TSD? I'm pretty sure it smells more like what you guys are looking for.
Nice to see you support him! Our shave is to us what a wives bath is to them, after a trip to lush. Yes on tsd soaps and after shaves, unlike many classics which are disliked by many woman yet liked by many men the tsd line is liked by both so just a question of preference in type of scent. My advice, get the barbershop scent in both soap and aftershave then add the cologne WHEN you both love it. Also get a few samples of other scents that pique your interest in soap and aftershaves by following the link that swarden43 provided above to the scent list. Theres more than enough to find many that can appeal to anyone. The soaps are also fantastic for legs in the shave, skincare and skin feel. For the record, I do not work for them but do really like there products.
Thank you for the suggestions! There was a total reading comprehension fail on my part. I swear looked over the list of scents before posting and completely missed the Barber Shoppe option. Doh. Off to go place a samples order.
They are very high quality scents. I haven't disliked any of what I have smelled and I haven't heard of many dissatisfied customers. It might take longer then most venders but its small batch made per order. Completely worth the extra wait.
TSD makes a great product. If you're looking for a really inexpensive, readily available product; check out Aqua Velva Musk for under a sawbuck:
