Vikings Sword is still going strong and I have a new found love for the Omega brush.
Didn't like it before, but it's gaining on me now!
The Proraso Green series is loveable as always. I'm hooked on the fresh scent.
I recently tried using Dove Cream Bars for a total shower soap - hair, face and body. It works excellent.
Not fond of the classic Dove scent, and especially the amount of scent! So I bulk-bought the fragrance-free version.
Excellent and in reality also fragrance-free - no oversold phrases there!

Items shown with my mug - the Steve Woodhead shallow shaving mug. Excellent lather-bowl.

    image.jpeg Razor: Feather AS-D2 2015
    Brush: Stirling Synthetic 26/63 2015
    Mug: Van Der Hagen
Cream: The Body Shop Maca Root cream
    Blade: Feather (5)
Post shave: Thayers Cucumber WH, Nivea Men Post Shave Balm, Old Spice Lime original Shulton AS Frosted Glass 1960s

Day 5 of shaving my Dads way. Bathroom has this great smell from the Maca Root cream sitting out in the mug. I may have to shave like this all the time, at least leave the cream in the mug, but I can't abuse my nice badgers like this.

Added a little Maca Root and a little hot water to the mug to get going as the Stirling is a bit of a hog with the soap. Whipped up a good bit of lather for a quick 2 pass shave. Finished with the WH, and then some Nivea. Rinsed the razor with the blade still in it, and hung it up to dry. I left the brush in the mug with the remaining cream and put it aside for tomorrow as my Mom said my Dad would do. The Feather blade on day 5 was still good, which is still a bit of surprise, but I'm saving money and cutting down on my shave time. WIN WIN!!! It is still a little strange rewhipping the cream again, but all is good. Finish with some vintage Old Spice Lime AS from the 1960s, Dad favorite. Y'all have a good one.

    Jayaruh #27 Silver Tip
    Gillette Super Adjustable (8)

    CWR, Asma Alum Block
    Thayers Rose Petal WH
    Aqua Velva AS

The Tabac Shaving Soap face-lathered well with my Jayaruh #27 Silver Tip brush. Two passes with my Gillette Super Adjustable razor on 8 and an Astra Super Platinum blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, alum block, and a final cold water rinse, I finished off with Thayers Rose Petal WH and then Aqua Velva after shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I really like it when I get to the end of my day and I still feel relatively clean shaven. I am not saying that I can't feel any stubble. just not much of it.

    New things arrived today.

    Razor: Mongoose S1
    Blade: Kai Captain
    2x passes: Wtg, Xtg
    PreShave Oil: AoS Sandalwood
    Shave Cream: AoS Sandalwood
Brush: Elite Razor Bog Oak handle w 24mm Silver tip tripple band badger
    Bowl: Parker Horn
    After Lotion: AoS Sandalwood

First shave with the Mongoose, holy heavy, my hand got a bit tired from using it. Time to get used to it I suppose. The other thing I noticed was that the cream/whiskers kept clogging up and gave me what felt like an uneven shave. Maybe the width of the blade also played into it, but for a first shave, I was impressed with how aggressive it was. The closest shave where I have not gone ATG and hopefully less irritation too.

Wife was not a huge fan of the smell as it was quite strong. Even a couple hours after it was still quite potent to me.

I am bummed with the bowl.. wow quite a stinky smell that did not smell like the shave cream or lotions. That may be a 1 time use unless it gets better fast.. any hints?

    Thursday's Shave -

My first use of my Schick Adjustable. Since I have no reference for the settings I put it on 4 and gave it a go. I used Maggard's London Barbershop (not the Don Marco pictured), partly because I like the scent, partly because it's almost gone and partly because it's incredibly easy to lather. Did a normal 3-pass shave (XTG, XTG, ATG) and ended up with a so-so DFS. My initial impression is that at 4 this razor feels very much like my Type G. By that I mean a typical injector shave...easy to use, comfortable, not particularly close. So, since I like my Fat Boy on 6, I'm moving the Schick up to 6 for Friday.

    Friday's planned shave:

Neutrogena Men Facial Wash :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
    Large Horsehair Barbershop
    Super Speed/Astra day 5
Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic SS :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Lucky Tiger AS Cream :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:
Alt Innsbruck AS :love055: :love055: :love055: :love055: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily: :Animatedfrozensmily:

Not nearly as bitterly-cold a selection as the last time but still very cold and enjoyable, at least where I'm concerned. The MITA is one of the nicest soaps which Rod ever created - its scent really appeals to me, it's a pleasure to lather up, it gives terrific skincare with such a fantastic menthol sensation. I'll never stop loving the Lucky Tiger a/s cream or the Alt Innsbruck - they both put plenty of additional icicles in a guy's face! ;) :D

A great weekend to everyone in advance! :)

Well this is just getting plain boring. Two passes to a DFS with no blood or other incidents. What's the point in that, right? Seriously, two great shaves in a row with the beast. It's feeling less a beast and more a well made precision tool that does what it's supposed to if you know even half of what you're doing. I'd love to tell you all about the drama of using it, but there just wasn't any today. Now I'm nervous about tomorrow...after two days of no problems it could be a rocky one in the morning!

So, since the shave was good here's a bit of fun from the day.....met the son of one of my old college frat bros from Baker U today. He had moved here to the Lou a few months ago and I happened to have his house on my sales list this month. I finally put the last name together with his dad's post on Facebook about the house he bought in the Shaw neighborhood here. So, what did I do to welcome him? Why posed as a law enforcement official of the federal type, of course, showing up on his door asking questions about his dad, where he was, had he received any packages etc., when would he see him, did he know anything about his business.....kept him and his lovely wife totally on the hook for a good six or seven minutes stuttering and trying to absorb that the feds were hunting his dad. When I let him off the hook and told him who I was the kid busted a gut. My guess was right...he's a chip off the old block and he was going to continue the charade to his dad when he visits from Kansas this week until letting him know who started it. Talk about long odds of meeting an old buddies son you've never met in such a random way. All in all, a good day after a good shave!

gutsy prank, be careful posing as feds, they get real serious about that.
