  1. Three pre-shave, one mid-shave followed by a post shave shot. Ahhhhh......and a splash too just before the Veg.

  4. Yeah he kept telling me where Cliff lives, what he does....which of course I already know. His wife was staring back and forth at us like a tennis match. Definitely a chip off the block though. I haven't seen his dad in over 20 years but the sense of humor was spot on when I let him off the hook. I also mentioned that his dad and I used to sit around the house and drink a lot of Diet Pepsi....which created a huge laugh from both him and his wife. Guess they know better. LOL

  6. Well, there probably was some Diet Pepsi in your bourbon.
  7. Not diet back then. lol.

  8. So I am not hallucinating. That's what I think as well - GSB improves after the first shave. Tough I usually get 7 or 8 shaves from one blade.

  9. I feel like many blades are smoother the second day.

  11. I think I read about that a while ago. Some theories about micro serrations and/or leftover material on the cutting edge from the production process that are being removed with the first shave ... similar to stropping a straight razor after sharpening.
  12. Some, like @Drygulch , strop DE blades on the forearm or palm before the first use.
  13. Perfecto!

Hey dude! Did you get back to good fundamental shaving?

    Prep: hot shower, Somerset's PSO
    Razor: '59 Fatboy
    Blade: Feather (1)
    Brush: Rubberset 400-4 Silvertip Badger
Lather: The Strop Shoppe Black Tie with Tallow
Shave (setting): 3 passes; WTG (6), XTG (6), ATG (4)
    Post: Alum, L'Occitane Cade ASB

So I selected yet another blade from my order of 50 Feather blades I got a few weeks ago, two blades out of one pack were both junk. Selecting from another pack proved to be a winner, I had a sharp smooth blade. Great shave, got a little too carried away with touch ups so I'm feeling a little sore but no blood and more importantly I practiced good technique with is what I'm focusing on this month.

  16. Yep! I think part of my problem was bad pack if Feather blades... But I'm doing much better now. I just shave like maybe three times a week heh

  17. Maybe the edges had corroded or something on the Feather? Glad you got back to good shaving!
  18. I'm not sure, I've seen reviews where other people have gotten bad blades from this seller on amazon, but they're in the minority.
  19. Sounds like them Russian Feathers to me.

  20. 11/13/15

    Gillette Super Speed Y3
    Vulfix Super Badger (660)
    Proraso Sandalwood cream
    Pinaud Clubman Original

Shave #2 with the 3rd Gillette Silver Blue in my Birth Quarter Super Speed.
Face lather and 1 pass XTG/ATG. Very nice reduction. I wet my face and neck and did a small amount of touch up where I could easily feel stubble. This gave me a near BBS. A cold water rinse followed by a moderate amount of touch up and the baby came home. The Pinaud Clubman stung at first, but finished quiet.

A nice comfortable one pass BBS from the Gillette Silver Blue in my Birth Quarter Super Speed. I kept going over a couple of my trouble areas after searching and finding hints of stubble after the cold water. For a moment during my touch up I started to think that I might have lost the angle on this razor, but it all turned out well in the end.

I hope everyone has a great Friday!
